How can I recreate an NTFS partition table?
I deleted the partition accidentally...
So is there any way of recreating the partition table so I can use the drive again? It hasn't been wiped, the data is still there as far as I know. I looked for a backup boot sector but couldn't find it and a search program couldn't either.
Anything else I can do?

Thanks. I thought more people would see it in Chit chat, but yes it does really belong in the PC section.

norton used to have a partition backup, but that was on a really old version of norton, like version 2.0 which doesnt support NTFS...
i have a partition program which can resize, create, delete exc... partitions, but i think it has to format it
try download.com or tucows.com and search "undo format" or somthing like that

Well you deleted it...so wouldnt you lose all data? By recover do you mean format so you can still use it for storage, or get the data back. You can use partition magic if you want to reformat it, and make it part of C drive or a new D drive. If you want to recover you can TRY knoppix I dont know if it will work, I doubt it..

no... he means that he deleted the partition, not formatted it. when you delete a partition it doesnt format it, it just tells the system that it cannot use that area. if he formatted the partition there are still tools to help him recover the data, but i hear they dont work too well.

No I deleted the partition table which is part of the boot sector. None of the actual data has been touched. Thanks both for your replies so far, I'm gonna try some of those tools on download.com
edit: beaten
