I don't know how old this thread is but just thought I'd pass on my condolences. Didn't know Mike but after reading the thread I had to say something.

Being an irregular visitor here, and more taking than giving, I am deeply sorry for this tragedy. I am just one of the countless lurkers who greatly benefit from this forum, and I am grateful for everything I learned from Parksie. I would like to express my condolences to his family and to all of those who were close to him.
Sort of strange, how one feels affected by this news about a more or less total stranger. But then, It's good to see how people from all over the world do care after all. At least, that proofs there are at least niches on the net where the great word of 'community' holds true. Parksie truly has been an integral part of this community, he has helped shape and form it, and has been part of the culture here that everybody enjoys. This is our heritage, let's be grateful to have it and let's take good care of it.
Goodbye, Parksie, and thank you!

Wow...this is a big shock...it's the first thing i read when i signed in..
I know a lot of people dont know me in this forum, and I don't really remember a lot of people except a few, and he was one of them.
Every time i had a problem with something he would sometimes post to my threads...in fact he was the first person to respond to one of my first threads.
I didn't know him that well and all, but I could tell he was a good guy and really smart... I'm sorry he's gone now.

I haven't been here in a while but I'm sure a few people remember me. I have had a few conversations with Mike in the past and I was saddened to read this.
My condolences.

Sorry to drag this post back up but had to respond.
There were some fun times to be had on these forums a couple of years back and parksie was always there in the thick of things. I'm sure the forums won't quite be the same without him anymore
RIP Parksie.

Re: Parksie
I'm bringing this back, never close it
I went to say hey to parksie today, and I found out he died
Why would he do something like this? He was a great person, and if someone commits suicide, why don't they leave a note or something? Why did he have to do this to us? I want to know why this all happened, and if anyone could explain I'd be delighted.
RIP pars

With respect, it has been a while now. I doubt anyone wants to dig up why's and how's again. Especially not close friends and family. Let it be.
I don't live here any more.

Re: Parksie
I have to agree with Wossname here, Parksie was a much loved person here and that shows in this thread old and new members, look at all the 'VB old timers' comming back and posting. Why people do things is sometimes confusing. The fact is he did and he had his reasons for which non of us can judge.
Lets just keep this to the good times and for passing on our thoughts to his family and friends

Re: Parksie
I have heard of him passing away, but never really realised how much it has affected me, i'm sitting here in a reflective mood, gathering my thoughts on this event, and then, i found myself pouring tears to see such a loved member of this community pass away from this world.
I am truly sorry to hear the details of this awful news, and to drag this thread and subject back up. But, i do feel that once this post is added to the collection, i will be able to honour him much more.
Thanks for all the help Parksie...
Sorry it had to be this way...

If i may have a few words to say:
I never knew mike, but i feel like i have known him forever
Wish i had gotten to know you better
I believe these words would fit it best:
Mike was not a man for aging, Mike was a man for ages
Forever in our memories, R.I.P. Mike
My condolences to all his friends and family

My condolences. This is terrible thing, and he seemed like a really nice person.
I have a question for those that knew him more...
Was Parksie also the site owner of subduck?
I apologize, but I have seen his avatar in other forums?

No. His avatar is a very common one, it's even present in MSN Messenger as one of the defaults available.

I think he would find it rather funny MrRee, no need to change it. A bit of humour goes a long way.
