I'm also not binary hero. Nor am I trish. I am Richard, a close friend of binary hero, trish and parksies. I just want to clear this up for you: hopefully this will help - links to two memorial threads that have been set up for parksie on unrelated forums:
If you still aren't sure, check his member profiles on Winamp, you'll see he has made many posts. Otherwise, come into #pabuk on irc.zirc.org and you will be able to talk to me (il_cornuto). I'll be there most of tonight, and whenever I can be at home.
I love Mike very much, and miss him a lot. I hope this clears things up so you can grieve and move on. More details will be posted when appropriate, and there will be arrangements for anyone who wishes to make a donation towards a gift for his family.

Some people have told me they don't think a fat penguin really embodies the grace of Linux, which just tells me they have never seen a angry penguin charging at them in excess of 100mph. They'd be a lot more careful about what they say if they had.

Yep. He helped me quite a bit back when I was a nooby VB coder (around the turn of the century). I can safely say that I wouldn't be where I am now without his expertise and help. I owe him one.
Haven't really posted in any of his threads for ages though

My thoughts exactly. Good thing this was stickied.
Rest in peace.
We're hoping to at the very least print this off and give it to Mike's parents, personally, I would like to be able to read it out at his funeral. Well, like isn't the right word,
There's also a paypal button for any of you who wish to donate toward flowers or a gift for the family.
It's nice to see mike was as respected and loved here as he was everywhere else he visited. God bless.
Originally posted by Arc Anyone have a clue why he did it? Hell I miss the guy and I really didn't know him at all, but I recognize the name and the duck.
Probably none of our business really.
Why, when you really need one, is there no Undo key, or "Restore to known-good settings" menu? There's no hard disk big enough to retrieve a backup from.
This is never a good situation for anyone involved, friends, family and loved ones. They are the ones who my feelings go out to. Hang on in there.
My 16 yr old cousin committed suicide 3 years ago. She was experimenting with rope and a door, and ended up hanging herself in a copycat suicide like a lad in her class at school did a week earlier. The story was a 2 page spread in most national tabloids in the UK.
Reading this thread has brought back some memories Although a good thing in a funny sort of way as I haven't thought of Kate in a while.
If you don't mind me asking, was confirmed that it was actually suicide? My cousins suicide was left as an open verdict as they think she didn't mean to hang herself
I thought of an idea, which would be a nice touch. Could we get a rubber duck smilie in memory of Mark? arksie:
