Mike
There are so many things i want to write here, so many pieces of memories i want to document forever, so many that i want to say to all of you lot, and so much that has to be said to his parents
The emotion comes in waves, you have a blissful few moments of not being able to think anything. No thoughts, no feelings, no emotion. But then it all comes crashing down.
You end up categorising everything as "Mike's last...", "The last time Mike came round to our flat", "the last song he just picked up a guitar and played", "the last time I will ever walk into our front room at 12 on a sunday and see him lying on the sofa snoring loud enough to wake the neighbours".
Thanks to everyone who has written anything nice about Mike. Even the little forum posts "I didnt know him but he helped me install OpenBSD once..." ones.
I cant decide what to do...on any timescale. What now? What next? Should we go to the pub? should we stay here? Of course, if you go to the pub then you will remember "the last time i was in a pub with Mike". But if you stay then you will notice the rubber duck on top of Trish's monitor.
There isn't any anger, no denial, its all bull****. You just feel really bad that Mike will never turn up at the door with beer and pringles.
People keep asking me if I'm ok. If i make a joke about it they look worried. If i tell the truth then they look at me worried. If i lie and say "yeah, im ok" then they look at me worried too. Cant hold a conversation on IRC - youjoin, people ask if you are ok, then start talking about something amongst themselves, and i cant work up the motivation to get involved.
Mike, I loved you from the bottom of my heart. I would have done anything for you.
Bye Mike, I'll see you around sometime. Come round to the flat sometime soon.
...we still have a can of special brew, and you are the only one who drinks it

Man, that's a harsh thing to see. I always wondered if such a thing would become knowledge, or the person would just disappear.

Parksie
Mike Parks, Parksie, has died. It was almost certainly suicide - there are no details on it other than the fact that he had a letter, addressed to me.
The last time anyone spoke to him was 1:10AM friday night (or saturday morning).
You were an awesome guy Mike.

Re: Parksie
I have heard of him passing away, but never really realised how much it has affected me, i'm sitting here in a reflective mood, gathering my thoughts on this event, and then, i found myself pouring tears to see such a loved member of this community pass away from this world.
I am truly sorry to hear the details of this awful news, and to drag this thread and subject back up. But, i do feel that once this post is added to the collection, i will be able to honour him much more.
Thanks for all the help Parksie...
Sorry it had to be this way...

If i may have a few words to say:
I never knew mike, but i feel like i have known him forever
Wish i had gotten to know you better
I believe these words would fit it best:
Mike was not a man for aging, Mike was a man for ages
Forever in our memories, R.I.P. Mike
My condolences to all his friends and family

My condolences. This is terrible thing, and he seemed like a really nice person.
I have a question for those that knew him more...
Was Parksie also the site owner of subduck?
I apologize, but I have seen his avatar in other forums?

No. His avatar is a very common one, it's even present in MSN Messenger as one of the defaults available.

I think he would find it rather funny MrRee, no need to change it. A bit of humour goes a long way.

Do we have any reliable sources of information on this matter? I refuse to believe something of this nature penned by a member with fewer than 10 posts!
If this is a hoax then you deserve to be reported to spam control and / or the authorities.
