Hey, this happened almost a year earlier than the current thread. You both should have seen this.

So I guess I need a new explanation as to why my attachment was deleted 3 years after it was posted.

Add spyware to your pong program and then attach it to vbforums.
We're very nostalgic around here and would enjoy the chuckle.

Because we have policies to uphold, but can't possibly monitor all of the forums constantly.
Having slipped under the radar once does not exempt something from our rules.

Or maybe I was considered such a trusted member that the moderators then overlooked certain things when it came to me. Welcome, Penagate, you seem new (or at least in relation to this thread). Enjoy your stay here at VBForums. Let me know when I get my privileges back.

Whats with the Jan 02 join date and only 2 worthy (questionable) posts?
I'm a slacko but I've got at least a hundred posts.
You need to provide less programming and more assistance in the real forums. Then beg for your imaginary priveleges.

I didn't look at the date of the post when I deleted the attachments. What I saw was a zip file containing just an executable with no source code. It didn't help that your account has just two non-chit chat posts.
The policy on this (let's call it the 'snake game policy' ) is pretty clear and has been this way as long as I have been a moderator, if not a member. It helps prevent the posting of viruses, adware, etc. If you want to post a program, you need to post the source code as well. As far as I know, there are no exemptions to this rule for anyone, regardless of their join date, popularity, or even moderator status.

That, my friend is an excellent question. What did happen to my several thousand posts?
Seek, my friend. Embark upon this quest to discover the mystery of Spetnik's lost posts (or just ask some longtime chitchat members).

That is strange,
I knew you had been one of the "Lost", but per http://www.vbforums.com/showpost.php...8&postcount=26
you had been somewhat restored.

Feel free to continue posting all genuine change requests. These will be actioned ASAP.
Also, please note that we are currently in the process of arranging for our sites to be moved to bigger and better machines.
Here's hoping, gang!

Re: TCPing - My legacy to IT
Due to the way the forum software works, it takes a lot of effort to keep those post counts as they were - they need to be manually changed on a regular basis.
As they have been at their 'real' level (based on remaining posts) for a long time and as nobody really cared (including myself - also about 1400 posts), the decision was taken to not update them.

Re: TCPing - My legacy to IT
Unfortunately there is nothing we can do about the lost posts - previous owners of this site didn't have a good enough backup system, so they are gone forever.
There are much better processes in place now, so the chances of it happening again are far lower.

I don't know who you are, but you're already too cocky for my taste. Every member on this forum shares the same level of privileges. I don't know a time when that has been different. You have no respect from me, regardless of what your former status may have been.
P.S. I'm the CC police.

Not really - you just seem to have a rose-tinted view of the way things were.
As was said earlier, the only reason your attachment wasn't deleted before is that it wasn't spotted.
As far as I am aware, you have never had any kind of special privileges (due to the crash, my "join date" is incorrect), and I can't think of any reason why you would have done.

Twisted viewers of reality have been known to receive the big red button of ban, and it's usually quite an occasion.

I see. So I would get banned for merely expressing in ChitChat that I feel that I deserve privileges that I do not deserve? Wow. A lot sure has changed.
What about beer? Are we still allowed to talk about beer?

Unless you're talking about the colour of the beer, you will get banned unless you pass the new VBF test. I've failed for my 27th time. You know what they say, 28th time lucky!!!

And there is no more simple banning and it's done. As I said, we make an occasion out of it.
It usually involves Pena getting drunk right before we throw him into the arena with the banee. Humor ensues

Re: TCPing - My legacy to IT
Hey, I just won a 5-star award at download25.com!
But I'm confused. They sent me an email telling me about the award, and instructing me to put this button on my site. However, there is no mention of my award on their site. Do they just award 5 stars to everyone in order to get link-backs?

You might not remember me... but I remember you, back when I joined VBF. You were a heavy poster... I was the troll of the forums look up my old posts... you'll see what I mean. The good ol' days, eh?
