TCPing - My legacy to IT

As I leave the world of IT indefinitely (today is my last day), I have written one last program which I believe the world can benefit from. Here is "TCPing", an application which mimmicks the "ping" utility, but instead "pings" a server via tcp/ip on a specified port.
This is usefull for two scenarios:
    1. For servers or networks that have ICMP packets blocked (or do not respond to them).
    2. To check if a server is listening on a specific port.

This is a console program written in C. It should run on all windows machines. Please do try it out and post any suggestions today so I can make final modifications. As for distribution, I would like to leave it up to others to provide the application on their personal sites (it is a small file - 26kb zipped). Although I will be losing internet access, I will be checking google from time to time to see what the response/popularity of the program is (I may fix it if bugs are found).

Technical details: The program just loops the specified amount of times (default: 4) and "pings" the specified server on the specified port (default: 80) at the specified interval (default: 1,000 milliseconds). Ctrl-Break displays statistics, and Ctrl-C terminates the application early. The "pinging" consists of opening and closing a socket on the remote server and port.

like to go out with a *bang*? I'd bet that it isn't source code, and even if it was, I don't debug "C+" code

    Viruses, and all!

many free programs do the same thing. i have a few, plus eveyone has the ping.exe utility.

    anyone else?

But seriously, I'd like this to try and stay on topic (if possible). Feedback would be greatly appreciated. I have less than 24 hours before my computers are packed up and I lose internet access (I may not even be able to log on for another six weeks at all).

    Err... yes, that.

What's your story? How can they take your Internet away from you? Are you going to jail?

Come on spetnik, we're more interested in those personal issues than a utility to ping computers. Come on out with you. You're moving to a hippy comune and are going to practice free love?

Notice how he deflects attention away from his shady clandestine activities. Whats the current average sentence for computer misuse? 6 weeks?

I went off the internet for about a year and a half. I used to use it every day. I was +o on man channels on IRCNet, and +n on a huge number of eggdrop botnets... and I gave it up cold turkey one day... well not by choice.

When I came back finally, there were still a few people I'd known when I was younger, but the botnets were gone and were replaced with newer versions... and I was no longer +o and +n

I don't want to go into details, really. I just have things to take care of that will keep me extremely busy for quite a while. I'd appreciate some feedback on the TCPing app tho.

I've removed your attachments. If you want to post your work along with the source code so that people can inspect it and compile it themselves, that's fine, but we generally don't allow people to just post executable files for obvious reasons.

    Thanks!

That's funny, the first attachment was there for over three years without any complaint.

Well you can also download it here: http://www.spetnik.com/downloads/tcping2.zip

Yeah, three years. Now, I'm not quite sure about this, but I think you may have posted then vanished before the whole incident with the snake game. Things changed a bit.

Yeah, I was gone for something like 4 years... tell me about the snake game!

Here's the thread. As you can see, it started as a request to test some "AI". Arc saw something worse in it, but Woka really unloaded on the guy, and it spirals into the realm of legendary right after that.
