Converting Alphabet to Binary
I am trying to convert the following "XXXnnnnn" into a barcode and therefore binary. X= alphabet and n= number.
Please help.

No coding required!
A barcode is just a different font. Download and install the barcode font you wish to use and set the Font Type of the text to that barcode font.... There are a standard set of barcode fonts, just search for them on any search engine. There might also be some additional rules for the barcode text. For example, you might have to surround your text with "*"... eg. *barcodetext*; but that will come with the barcode documentation.

Also a good reporting tool will help you if you are trying to create labels or reports with them printed out.
I like the Active Reports for .Net product very much. www.datadynamics.com
