Red face Do you know this?

    Hi,
I have a Time logging application, in which I update the time every minute for active task into system registy. All the tasks are tracked into the system registry. Is this a good programming practice? Will this by any chance corrupt the registry(because of frequent updation). Gurus advice is sought.

    Thanks
    Vijay S

Because of the multitude of the system registry and ALL the info it holds, I don't see this happening, as long as your doing it all the right way in terms of saving to teh registry, I'm sure you would not be able to overload its capacity of performance

    How many tasks are there?

This guru also advices to use INI files for frequent UPDATING.

The tasks are user dependent. If a user is working on different tasks one active task at a time, this task gets updated every minute into the registry(the time worked on task).
    Well thanks to you all..

I donot personally prefer INI files as there is every chance of deletion by naive users. Registry is onething many are afraid to tamper with.

    Thanks

I say try what MedevH suggested. Files are meant for multiple access and etc. So you might wanna do all the tracking to a file then save the final resluts to the reg if applicable. Props to MedevH, I nvr thought about this for a alternative solution.
