    Paste fail event via API

    Hi all,

Just a quick one that I have no clue at all about...

If I'm using the API to send a clipboard paste to the foreground application (non-vb), how can I tell if the paste fails (say if I tried to paste a picture in a object that only accepted text)

    Any ideas anyone ?

How are you pasting? keyb_event? SendMessage? SendKeys?

    Hi

I have been using sendkeys (bad I know), but I could use Sendmessage if that can provide success feedback.

If you tried SendMessage, and it returns a value, I think 0 if it fails and non-zero if it snneds, you may be able to tell if the paste failed or not wether the message was sent, I'm not too sure about this specific topic, but ill try to do some searching

You can check if it's possible to paste by sending the EM_CANPASTE message :

    VB Code:
    1. Const WM_USER As Long = &H400
    2. Const EM_CANPASTE As Long = (WM_USER + 50)
