    Unexpected Error (336)

I have been searching and searching for even just an explanation of what this error means, and i cant find a thing.

if anyone has any idea let me know, i have a sneaking suspicion that it has something to do with controls being registered in error, but im not very good with the whole registering controls thing.

The error occurs when i try to compile or run the project.

    Thanks

in my case the problem with error 336 is:

FIX: Side-by-side COM DLL module manifest for Visual Basic 6.0 ActiveX Controls is overridden by the registry in Windows XP

Please, anyone could help-me, I need this fix!!!!!

    Re: Unexpected Error (336)

I face with this error in my laptop Asus K556uq...This type of errors is usually caused when there are missing files required by the linker So I suggest you try reinstalling Visual Studio SP5 or re-install VS/VB6 and try again, I think this is the best way.

    Hey Eric (eric_hayes),

Welcome to the forums. You're obviously using either Google or the forum search utility to search for miscellaneous stuff. But hey, the last post to this thread (before you) was over 13 years ago. I'd be shocked if SkiNLaB is still sitting around waiting on a solution to this problem.

Come on over to the current stuff, found here, and join us.

Any software I post in these forums written by me is provided “AS IS” without warranty of any kind, expressed or implied, and permission is hereby granted, free of charge and without restriction, to any person obtaining a copy. Please understand that I’ve been programming since the mid-1970s and still have some of that code. My contemporary VB6 project is approaching 1,000 modules. In addition, I have a “VB6 random code folder” that is overflowing. I’ve been at this long enough to truly not know with absolute certainty from whence every single line of my code has come, with much of it coming from programmers under my employ who signed intellectual property transfers. I have not deliberately attempted to remove any licenses and/or attributions from any software. If someone finds that I have inadvertently done so, I sincerely apologize, and, upon notice and reasonable proof, will re-attach those licenses and/or attributions. To all, peace and happiness.

What you are witnessing is the final collapse of a once-great user community. If I didn't know better I'd think most recent posts are being made by an anti-VB clan trolling the crap out of us.
