    Cool An Optical Illusion...

Can anyone spot which of the dots is hollow?

Everything I say is either loose interpretation of dubious facts or idle speculation rooted in irrational sentiment.

    If tomorrow never shows
I want you all to know
    that I loved you all
    You're beautiful
And I had myself a ball
I've wasted so much precious time
I've been skating along these fine lines
Now these weeds have grown where the sun once shown
and my life has passed me by...

HB, download the image and open it in PSP or Photoshop. Then use the eyedropper to read the color values of the two fields.
Or cut out one field and move it over to the other.

    They ARE the same.

Keda, I hate this kind of flash movie.

I don't have none But I still think the parellel lines and the hollow dots are better. It doesn't require you to read the colour value.

This doesn't either. The colors seem different to you even without reading the color values. But if you don't believe that they are the same then you can check by reading the color values.

But the hollow dots are extremly cool, I agree with you ther. Actually I believe there's not a single hollow one.

I loadeed the checkboard into photoshop and checked the values...they ARE the same according to phosotshop but i still dont beleive it.

If you drag a white sqare to the B sqaure it looks VERY white...IF you drag the B sqare near a white sqaure it looks VERY dark...Something is not right here... Very strange.

I'm viewing the picture using Fireworks and the B square is not white at all. The B square seems to be a gray colour

Dude.. reading is fundimental... I said if you drag a White square near the B square it looks VERY white.. Meaning the white square doesnt look grey it loks VERY white... like MUCH whiter than any square on the board inclduing the one you copied.

Working at a Digital Color Printing Company, there are several people here who pride themselves on being able to "Rate" colors and shades of grey. So, I downloaded this image, printed out several copies on our Igen3, trimmed off the spoiler on a third, and sliced the image down thru squares A and B on another third.

Then, showing them the image without the spoiler, I asked them:

"On a Percentage scale of 0 to 100, How would you rate the Grey of the cell that A is In? Don't worry about accuracy, I just want a general guess."

Once they say something like 20 Percent grey for Cell A, I'd have them rate Cell B.

It was really fun watching them when I'd hand them over the sheet with the spoiler, and then when they'd say "Thats Impossible", pull out the sliced image and align a part of A with a part of B.

BTW, HB, just so you can see:

You can see that they're the same colour. What you have to do is concentrate hard on only those squares, try to make them pop out. Then the colours will start to match.

Yep that's the trick. Just concentrate on the squares only and then you'll see they're the same

I still don't understand, it being a checkered board, how can square A and B have the same colour? That's not a checkered board then. And mind you, I am a chess player

My objection is to the board being called checkered. Then A and B must have two different colours. If it's not a checkered board, then I shall say the shadow of the cylinder makes the square B look different to A.

You expect the B to be a white square, because according to the organisation of checkerboards, it should be. The shadow cast on square B makes it the same colour as A, while your eyes still play tricks on you because at first glance, they appear different. Thats the illusion.

Did you know that if you looked at pi divided into 8 columns with 8 digits with in them it looks exactly as a DNA strand? Is this just lucky to occur? I think not.
