Wasn't there a processor comparison of speeds?
Off the top of my head I think it was this or something.
Type----Max Hz---Speed (byte/(1/1000)s
086-----1KHz-------100
186-----50KHz-------10
286-----100KHz------1
386-----100MHz----0.01
486-----200MHz----0.001
586-----300MHz----0.0001
686-----500MHz----0.00005
786-----700MHz----0.00003
886-----900MHz----0.00002
986-----1.8GMHz---0.00001
1086--- 2.8GHz-----0.000009
Xeon---7.8GHz------0.000004
????---20GHz-------0.0000001

If it wasn't for those damn hackers we'd be using those fine 20ghz processors by now
I hate these Microsoft guys! What a rotten compiler! It only accepts 16,384 local variables in a function!

Why would we need 20GHz? Once you go over 1.2GHz & 1GB RAM it will depend on the seek time of the hard drive and how fast it writes to it. Other than that it isn't worth crap.
I think the new 9600 RPM Drives are coming out.

I've seen some nice 15K RPM, too expensive for my liking though

Q's Evolution of Drives
RPM----------Max Average Space
1000 RPM----600MB
3200 RPM----2GB
5400 RPM----40GB
7200 RPM----200GB
9600 RPM----500GB
11800 RPM--2TB
14000 RPM--40TB
16200 RPM--200TB (Largest Server Drive, I think.)
The Future:
18400 RPM--500TB (Any faster and it would be unstable. One nick to the drive frame could destroy it. )
The New Holographic Drives...
1 Omegabyte (OB, 1,000TB) Space
Seek time at 8GHz, light-speed read/write.
Problem is it would be size of your average computer case.
Saw something about it on Discovery once.

I know that. I didn't get that bit either. If I did, I wouldn't have asked...

If it werent for hackers, we would never have invented fire. We'd be sliding around on our square wheels. Crackers, while you can say that they have raised our awarness of security issues, certainly have not pushed forward the development of new processors or hard drives. To say so is simply foolish.
"Oh no, someone cracked Warcraft 3! I need to go and invent a 20Thz processor and 2500rps hard drive to compensate!"
Also, Q_me... hard drive speed has nothing to do with anything unless you are reading or writing to said hard drive. Its all memory and processor speed.

You got the concept down. Perfect example of the theory.

Hackers don't break into computer systems though, crackers do.
