    Vbforums Spam Survey!

What do you want to do with all that spam? They do have to have it to pay for their server expenses.

I dislike it only because it is active x or java banners and my ie is screwed up right now so it gives me trouble (see my post in gen pc) other than that I understand we live in a capitolist society and people need and want to make money and I think this is a great community and would hate to have to pay the server bills
I'm off to GalahTech, hope to see you there.

    At least:
    1) It's at the top
    2) It doesn't seem to be the "in your face" type of ads.
    3) It isn't for a casino
    4) Isn't FLASHING "Your a Winner!"
    5) All the ads I've "seen" (when I did pay attention) have been technology based (IBM, Oracle, Microsoft, etc).
    6) They don't look like stub dialog boxes that tell me my T1 "connection is too slow." and that I should "click here to speed it up."

Good point but it still pisses me off. If they are going to have ads why cant the members be interested in what the ads are about instead of the "click here so you can be spammed more" deal.

I don't particularly have anything against advertising, I just find the ones being used are too large - take almost as long to download as the 'real' content and are too distracting with all that animation.

I'm not sure how the guys who run the site get money from them but isn't it usually based on the number of click-throughs? If so just make sure you never click them (In fact I've never clicked a banner add in my entire life, have you?) and if they are recieving zero revenue from them after a few months they might be more susceptable(sp) to the suggestion of removing them.

I'm still using a dial up connection and the pages are taking longer to load.

The one at the top looks awful, makes the rest of the page look like ****. The bottom one is alright though.
How is it one careless match can start a forest fire, but it takes a whole box to start a campfire?

    There's one at the bottom??

Holy crap! There is! I never scroleld that far down before.....

We should count our blessings that the ads are at the top & bottom..... I've seen places that toss in an add every 10-15 posts... right in the middle of the pages!

I didn't say they weren't flashing at all... just that they weren't flashing "YOU ARE A WINNER!!!! Click Here!!!!!"

But that aside, I haven't seen that one.... but then I'm pretty oblivious to the ads, I've gotten to overloaded that I tune them out 99% of the time.

Thats what I've been trying to say all day long... nothing has changed but everyone is all freaked out and leaving... Even I regestered at www.galahtech.com today and hope that it will become what this once was.
I'm off to GalahTech, hope to see you there.
