    How to create an auto run/startup file?

    Can I create an auto run/startup file using VB? What I meant
    is this. Once the user inserted the diskette 3.5 into his
    drive A:\, how do I automatically run certain program from
    there?

    Appreciate it if someone can help.

    I don't think it is possible with floppy. But you could do it with CD.

    Open notepad and type:

    [Autorun]
    Open=your_program_name.exe

    Save if as 'Autorun.inf' file and place on your CD root

    When you insert your CD into a CD-Rom your program will start automatically.

    Search these forums.

    I've once read that it is possible to set something of autobooting for floppydrives, but I'm not sure.

    In www.sourceforge.com there is an interesting project called CDRDAO.

    It has GNU license, and you can write to cds from dos, you also have the source code, (but GNU license). Might give you ideas.

    Regarding the diskette, I think I have seen one million years ago a dos program to format diskettes with some kind of autostart function (I do not mean boot diskettes of course). I've been looking for it but seems is in the data's heaven. Also looking for it on google the search gets mixed with normal boot diskettes, so not easy.
