    Rioch

Hey people. I've got a customer with a Ricoh fax printer. He's using the Lanfax driver to send out faxes. I'd like to be able to pass the phone number to the print driver and have the machine just...

    Re: Manifesting...

Well this is weird. I already have the color palette docked as an option under Tools - but it doesn't show up. Under "view" I don't have a Color Palette option. Ever hear of anything like that?

    Manifesting...

The other day I added a Manifest to VB6.EXE (to the IDE not to my Application). I was looking at the common controls replacement.

Today when I open my application inside the IDE I see a few of...
  4. Re: CommonControls (Replacement of the MS common controls)

You ran into the same problem I found. The demo simply doesn't work. But don't give up - it's a great project and you CAN make it run. There are a bunch of steps you need to take to get it working...
  5. Re: CommonControls (Replacement of the MS common controls)

Your post was far clearer than any of the other posts from the experts. I think you speak well in my native tongue - nOOb! :)

Thanks very much again for your help!

Very nice project! Thanks for posting.
  7. Re: [RESOLVED] MSHFlexGrid - License Info Missing

Certainly possible. I like my old school Office 2007 so when I'm setting up a new computer it gets installed. Entirely possible it went in after VB and could have messed up my OCX's. The...

This is exactly what I was looking for. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to make any difference. :( The tool box icons are exactly the same size as before.

Nope. I just right clicked the top tool-bar and selected Large Icons. Instant improvement. I just wish there was a similar option for the tool box along the left side. Too bad the forum resizes...

    Re: IDE Question

Just a quick update on my progress. I found if you right click on the tool bar, customize, Options you can select Large Icons. That seems to enlarge both icons and fonts on the toolbar.

    You can...

    IDE Question

I've just upgraded to a new laptop with a 2560 x 1600 display. Nice. I love having a bit more room on the screen. I can show two forms at once, copy code from one window to another, etc.

    But...
  12. Re: MSHFlexGrid - License Info Missing

Microsoft used to have a file called VB6CLI to resolve this issue but it's been removed and just shows a 404 now. I found an old copy of VB6cli kicking around on some sketchy Chinese development...
  13. Re: CommonControls (Replacement of the MS common controls)

OMG it works. The demo actually works!!! Hosan Al Dein showed the way with his brilliant post about adding a manifest into the VB6.EXE file... and presto. The demo finally works! Might be an idea...
  14. Re: CommonControls (Replacement of the MS common controls)

Ah! Well.. that seems to work. But just a question... what does this all do?

In my case I did notice the IDE showed a few minor changes to bold text but not much else.

    The only thing I...
  15. Re: CommonControls (Replacement of the MS common controls)

Humm... No manifest node... Any ideas?
  16. Re: MSHFlexGrid - License Info Missing

You know... there's probably a "how to" out there somewhere that tells a person how to install VB properly.. but there's just as many guides that mess you up completely. Can you point to a good...
  17. Re: CommonControls (Replacement of the MS common controls)

First, thanks very much for your suggestions. Very helpful. I realize it's not your job to spoon feed me so I'll try to figure out how to add a manifest to VB6. Last time I tried... it didn't end...
  18. Re: CommonControls (Replacement of the MS common controls)

Well... that did change things. Now the whole IDE just closes and exits without any error message. But the demo still doesn't run.

Just to make sure it wasn't just this new laptop I'm having...
  19. Re: CommonControls (Replacement of the MS common controls)

The demo still doesn't run. Not saying it's impossible to get it to run. But normally you run a demo - it doesn't work - you give up and move on. I asked about it, googled, tried a few things -...
  20. Re: CommonControls (Replacement of the MS common controls)

Last time I tried it the sample wouldn't load. I don't think they are really trying to make something people can use. Just tech types having fun I think.
  21. Re: MSHFlexGrid - License Info Missing

I agree. Disabling the UAC and running as Admin is a must but I don't think I did that on the first go round. I decided to uninstall and try again. There was no mention of VB in my Apps so I...
  22. Re: MSHFlexGrid - License Info Missing

Good call. I was a bit surprised to see I even had it in my control. I switched over to I see the VSFlexGRid control from ComponentOne years ago.

This select will do the trick:

  27. Old School Database question - Genius needed!

    Re: [RESOLVED] Easy SQL Question?

Yes it was a select. But the problem didn't show up until I added a LIKE.

So I think this is OK.

Select * from dbo.database where DESC = 'Cats'

    But this is invalid:

    Select * from...

    Re: [RESOLVED] Easy SQL Question?

Ok... well if you see an "invalid cursor" message you can't really say what's wrong. That message is generic. In my case I had a column in a legacy db called DESC (short for description). When I...
