  1. Re: [VB6] ucShellBrowse: A modern replacement for Drive/FileList w/ extensive feature

It really might be worth making into a standalone program that emulates the old explorer in XP. I still miss that tool daily. None of the alternatives have it quite right.
    I did make my own...
  2. Re: [RESOLVED] VB6 QUESTION: GDI+ Read/resize/write a PNG - how?

Thankyou Fafalone, That would have been very useful when I started out but I largely have that now.

A remaining question for anyone that chooses to answer but mostly for Olaf as it was used in his...
  3. Re: VB6 QUESTION: GDI+ Read/resize/write a PNG - how?

Olaf, thankyou for your help. In the end, with your guidance and code, I conquered it. As always, there was a bug... that had undermined all my efforts to get this going.

    I had the initialisation...
  4. Re: VB6 QUESTION: GDI+ Read/resize/write a PNG - how?

Thankyou, fascinating and I will give it a try.

PS. I am managing an hour of coding per day here. Three children, two elderly parents and a brother under the same roof. Parent one has a heart...
  5. Re: VB6 QUESTION: GDI+ Read/resize/write a PNG - how?

I swear I tried that already and it didn't work for me.

  6. Re: VB6 QUESTION: GDI+ Read/resize/write a PNG - how?

    Chaps, Olaf,

I'm using the routine below LoadPictureGDIPlus, to load images from disc to an image object, lngImage. It works well for me but it is not fast enough. I have up to 80 largish PNG...
  7. Re: VB6 QUESTION: GDI+ Read/resize/write a PNG - how?

I already have a D2D example that I had half-built but by then I had worked more on the GDI+ version. I just made more progress on the GDI+ version. I may return to the D2D version later.
  8. Re: VB6 QUESTION: GDI+ Popupmenu - How to create an invisible form?

I think you may be right, that was happening earlier to another function I had added. I need to hunt the error.
  9. Re: VB6 QUESTION: GDI+ Read/resize/write a PNG - how?

Thanks everyone but I AM using GDI+ for this project. Help is always appreciated but it needs to be on-target. I can't just re-code it on a whim to try another technology when I haven't yet even...
  10. Re: VB6 QUESTION: GDI+ Popupmenu - How to create an invisible form?

I'll post the code shortly when I am happy with it.

    I meant GDI+ throughout!

I am unsure why adding a menu to the form stops the graphics appearing but they definitely don't appear when even...
  11. VB6 QUESTION: GDI+ Popupmenu - How to create an invisible form?

Chaps, I'm running into a problem re: pop up menus.

I have a full screen GDI+ program (dock) running quite well. I'm trying to add a popupmenu using the default form upon which the GDI code sits....

  13. Re: VB6 QUESTION: GDI+ Read/resize/write a PNG - how?

Olaf, thankyou for the help and that pointer as to what to do.

    It helped tremendously.

What I am trying to do is to take a folder full of large transparent PNGs (icons) and then display them...
  14. [RESOLVED] VB6 QUESTION: GDI+ Read/resize/write a PNG - how?

Chaps I am out of my depth here and I'm bashing my head against the wall to no avail. I have made some progress but I need your help.

    Re: Ouch

The US should invade Mexico, I'm surprised they haven't already. They did it before and now it is called Texas. It works.

    It might help both economies.
  17. VB6 QUESTION: Does anyone have some code for validating a colour?

I'm reading data from a source and I'd like to validate all the incoming fields before allowing them to be used. I've done it successfully for all fields bar one.

One of them is a colour attribute...
  18. Re: Bug found in VBCCR CommonControls

I'm sorry, I have just had a look at the code and it isn't in a fit state to even extract at the moment. I'm unsure if I could even do it. I used LaVolpe's alpha image code and hacked together...
  19. Re: Bug found in VBCCR CommonControls

Crashing with thousands of icons certainly sounds like a memory issue. Without knowing Krool's code I imagine that it may be trying to cache the icons and hence the problem. I recently rolled my own...
  20. Re: CommonControls (Replacement of the MS common controls)

You have helped me several times, so it is nice to be able to return the favour.

I will do that bit of documentation - perhaps you could add your penn'orth? If you find any more differences do...
  21. Re: CommonControls (Replacement of the MS common controls)

I found this out earlier Elroy and I raised it with Krool.

Hope that is useful to you. It seems that the treeview click operation in Krool's version is different from the original, I had...

    Re: B4A is now free!

Well that's good then. Always good to push your hand to the face of those that offer feedback and say that in effect they aren't wanted.

When you offer a solution to a community that might want...
  24. Re: [VB6] ucShellBrowse: A modern replacement for Drive/FileList w/ extensive feature

This is an impressive piece of work. I could really do with the same filelistbox control in VB.NET.
  25. Re: Vb6 , the Future, and what I have discovered

I am now actively programming in both VB.NET and VB6 and VS/.NET 'feels' crippled in some way despite all of its advantages and improvements.

Like the first version of a good film - VB6 just got...

    Re: B4A is now free!

Unfortunately that isn't an option on my VB6 development laptop.

  34. [RESOLVED] VB6 QUESTION: Does anyone have some simple code for counting multiple monitors?

  37. Re: VB6 QUESTION: Am I experiencing a problem with Windows Registry shadow copy?
