    Thanks. I ran into the cyclic when in a new worksheet I pasted the formula into a cell in a row with no data. In my real workbook there will never be random blank cell in the range I want to sum.

    @westconn1: I just tested and Named Ranges do grow but in a limited fashion. If you put 1, 2, and 3 in A7 to C7 and create a named range called Dates from those cells then =Sum(Dates) will return 6....
