    Your app looks great. Commercial sort of app. But, I'd commit fully to the move to .Net. Just because you can give it a VB6 feel, doesn't mean it's a good idea...

    Project-->Properties-->Application-->Target CPU

    You won't have that option if you're compiling in a 32 bit environment though...

    IO.File.WriteAllLines("employee.txt", Array.ConvertAll(textboxes, Function(t) t.Text))

    To get the lines from the file, and put those in your textboxes...


    Dim textboxes() as TextBox = {TextBox1, TextBox2, TextBox3, etc}
    Dim lines() as String = IO.FileReadAllLines("employee.txt")
    ...

    Remove any other code in your project that accesses your employee.txt file and run your project again...
    You should note that your original question says you can't get the data into your textboxes,...

    Selectedtext is selected text. You could test if selectedtext = “ “ and if it is expand the selection back to the last non space text. Or something similar
