  1. Re: Detecting if program is in Design mode or running mode from inside a Add-In

You could use VBBuildEvents, which are hidden events in "Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0 Extensibility". Open Object Browser(F2), right-click anywhere, then enable "Show Hidden Members", then search for...

Re: How Are You Dealing With High DPI?

I am not sure if this approach is better, but one way to keep design-time layout and not do everything in code is to convert all control coordinates(X/Y/W/H) at Form_Load from Twips to Percent of the...
  3. Re: Show password but don't leave traces in memory

Since you are using the W version and StrPtr, I don't think Windows is making copies, but we never know. 64-Bit Windows could be making copies to a 64-Bit DLL, but I doubt it.

    Another approach...
  4. Re: Show password but don't leave traces in memory

It sounds like you are storing passwords rather than hash. I store MD5 hash of the password, and therefore the password only exists briefly. Here is a link to MD5 sample code.
  5. Re: The TextBox Text property and memory

I am not sure at the moment, but I think that your calling ClearText in Form_Terminate would cause the form to be reloaded because of the reference to the Text property.
  6. Re: The TextBox Text property and memory

You could subclass the TextBox, and when you see WM_GETTEXT other than from your code, return spaces. You should not call CallWindowProc() in this case, but return the proper value(the number of...

Re: why the normal form from VB6 is buggy?

Are you using VB6 without service packs? Prior to SP3, Timer events don't fire when you show a modal form or MsgBox in the EXE. In the IDE, they don't fire at all in these situations regardless of...

Re: How Are You Dealing With High DPI?

I use Twips and a manifest for my EXE, but not VB6(I don't run my app in the IDE due to subclassing), and to keep design-time offset rather than fully positioning things in code, I save some...

    Re: https://www.radbasic.dev/

I haven't used Qt yet, but I believe that you only need to include the DLL's that you use, or if you choose to compile it statistically, everything is included in the EXE.

My thinking is to add a...

That's normal when you use the hidden global variable of the form such as Form1. In this case, although the form is unloaded, the instance or the object still exists, and therefore model level...

It looks like the API function Escape/ExtEscape with flag PASSTHROUGH is what is needed. Here is a KB article on the subject. You may want to also search the forum or the web for samples.

I left out the obvious, I wasn't trying to do your homework for you, just a pointer in how it's done. It's up to the printer driver to Interpret the result.

    Re: Usb thermal ticket printer

    Use something like:

    Printer.Print Chr(27) & "ABC";

Make sure that you add ";" at the end, otherwise VB sends CR/LF sequence as well.

Re: Writing a file to an obsure location....

When you write to Windows directory, it's redirected here if the EXE doesn't have a manifest:

So it should work, but not ideal. One...
  25. Re: [RESOLVED] Out of Stack String Space - RichTextBox

It does, plus handling ligature and digraph comparisons as dilettante mentioned.

P.S.: VB's StrComp() function maybe using CompareString() API function internally, but I am not sure.
  26. Re: [RESOLVED] Out of Stack String Space - RichTextBox

StrStrI probably only considers US English, but I am not sure, so it may not have the same behavior as InStr(vbTextCompare).

  29. Poll: Re: IDE first vs Compiler first, your opinion, just pie-in-the-sky stuff.

  32. Re: Error Retrieving the records based on date from Ms Access

From what others say, in the VB IDE; when the coder enters a date using the ## form, the IDE interprets it using the local format, then flips the numbers so it becomes in US format.
  33. Re: Error Retrieving the records based on date from Ms Access

The SQL line that the OP provided is air code, so it doesn't compile, so it's hard to say, but in your example above, the dates are always in US format, so the date range above is from Feb 7 to July...
  34. Re: Error Retrieving the records based on date from Ms Access

    Re: Loading Multiple Forms

Forms don't work like control arrays. You use the variables that you declared. One example:

    Dim ofrmSlaveShip(50) As frmSlaveShip

    Private Sub Form_Load()
    Dim x As Integer
    For x = 0 To 50
    ...
