Re: How to crop a picture

Well, what do you get when you Debug.Print the following? If no change in before/after, that explains it

    Private Sub Command1_Click()
    Debug.Print "Before: "; Picture2.Picture.Width,...
  2. Re: LARGEADDRESSAWARE ... anyone actually using it?

When I see statements like those above, sometimes I just roll my eyes. I doubt seriously that BSTR, for example, will change. If anything, maybe there may be a BSTR2 but not changing the format of...

You may want to toggle the AutoResize property after you change the picture

Re: How to crop a picture

Look at this in your sample code: Const PICTUREBOX_BORDERPX As Long = 4 '2 on each edge
Change it to whatever you need. If you want it borderless, change the constant to zero
  5. Re: LARGEADDRESSAWARE ... anyone actually using it?

No, I don't know. But why would there be such a linker option if it wasn't? Wouldn't even know if that option would tempt VB into requesting memory outside the 2GB boundary. I know I've asked the...
  6. Re: LARGEADDRESSAWARE ... anyone actually using it?

Thinking out loud. You can probably play with this somewhat. We can request memory at any 4K boundary via VirtualAlloc. Thinking that if you do so, at a range just before the 2GB boundary and a block...
  7. Re: LARGEADDRESSAWARE ... anyone actually using it?

Don't know the answer to your primary question, but will be monitoring this thread to find out. Regarding that final question -- if you are writing a component that can be used in someone else's...
  8. Re: How to adjust the height and width of an InkEdit Textbox to fit its contents

Are you only using the ink edit control because it displays unicode file names? If so, you can use a VB picturebox instead and DrawTextW to print the file name onto the picturebox (autoredraw). I...
  9. Re: How to adjust the height and width of an InkEdit Textbox to fit its contents

Basically, you want it to act like an AutoSize label? I am going to assume you are not loading files into it, otherwise, sizing the control could be taller than the screen to fit all the text. I am...

Re: How to crop a picture

@dilletante: I had to look at an old Trim/Crop function I used (based on alpha vs bkg color). I think our logic is very similar.

In my routine... also used a 4-scan approach, pseudo code follows...

    Re: User Control Question

#1. You can get that via UserControl.Ambient.DisplayName. If that value has parentheses, then you can parse the index out of it. A display name will not have parentheses without having an index

Re: What is this screen resolution / setting?

    Re: Elevation

I don't know if this will work, but manifests have a compatibility setting. Worth a try to use a manifest saying that your app is compatible up to Win 8, or Win8.1 if your app works there too.

  31. Re: Extracting Icons bigger than 32bpp from a DLL or EXE.

  34. Re: Extracting Icons bigger than 32bpp from a DLL or EXE.

Re: Create and load Cursor from byte array.

The obvious but inefficient method is: Start GDI+ do what's needed, cleanup, stop GDI+ in the same routine. That is not a good solution for a heavily GDI+ based project.
