Re: What if there was a NEW vb6

Also, I feel a bit sorry for the people in that thread. They seem to want a new VB6 pretty badly. I don't think they even realize how far MS has come since abandoning VB6. They need to ground...

Re: What if there was a NEW vb6

I must commend them for being pretty nice about it. I'd be flaming and cursing if users kept asking me for the same thing over and over after I said no the first time.

Re: What if there was a NEW vb6

No one here hates VB6, just the ridiculous notion that MS's decision to start from scratch rather than build on a shaky foundation was somehow a terrible mistake.

Re: What if there was a NEW vb6

This would fall on deaf ears. All this whining over VB6 is not actually about how "perfect" it was, its about some misguided feeling of betrayal over the decision to halt development of VB6. More...

The world would probably end. Wasn't there something about the death of VB6 in Revelations ?

Re: What if there was a NEW vb6

Wow, people are still jiving over VB6 ? Jesus Christ!! :ehh:
  8. Re: I am trying to do sprite animation is there a way to speed this up?

    +1

Speed is always based on how many pixels you jump on each tick. It may not seem like it would look smooth but trust me, your eyes will perceive it as moving faster, not jumping.
  9. Re: Supreme Court Declares Same-Sex Marriage Legal In All 50 States

Why would anyone be surprised by this. This was a clearly going to happen sooner or later. Just look at all the most recent TV dramas, they always feature some drama between a couple of fairies,...
  10. Re: Supreme Court Declares Same-Sex Marriage Legal In All 50 States

Here's a list of cases from around the world where people marry the weirdest ****.
  11. Re: Supreme Court Declares Same-Sex Marriage Legal In All 50 States

They awarded homosexuals the right to get married, how long do you think before these other weirdos start to lobby for the right to marry their toasters....
  12. Re: Supreme Court Declares Same-Sex Marriage Legal In All 50 States

Or the one where an Australian man marries his dog.
  13. Re: Supreme Court Declares Same-Sex Marriage Legal In All 50 States

See: South Korean Lee Jin-gyu 'marries' pillow lover Fate Testarossa..
  14. Re: Supreme Court Declares Same-Sex Marriage Legal In All 50 States

lol are you guys kidding ? This possibility is not farfetched at all. In fact, it has already happened. See: Tokyo man marries video game character.

This world has truly gone mad.
  15. Re: CommonControls (Replacement of the MS common controls)

Even the best apps have these problems. Have you ever read the comments about the Doom source code by programmers who ported it to modern operating systems ? By all accounts its one huge mess but it...

  17. Re: RegEx with lookahead, lookbehind and capturing groups

    There was never any .Net 2.5 released. The versions are 1, 1.1, 2.0, 3.0, 3.5, 4, 4.5, 4.5.1, 4.5.2

    Fair enough.

Is this Google translation correct ?
"You also need to ask someone who...
  18. Re: RegEx with lookahead, lookbehind and capturing groups

lol this was probably why you had trouble getting help here on this. Its blasphemous to even suggest that .Net might be able to do something better than VB6 in this sub-forum.

So I take it you already tested it and it worked the way you wanted it to ? If not, lemme know what the problems are, as long as it doesn't involve the regular expressions themselves since, as I...

    Re: Creating RegEx COM wrapper

.Net 3.5 comes by default with Windows 7 and higher versions come with Windows 8 and presumably Windows 10 so you can just register and use the library right away on such PCs. No version of the .Net...

Well if you trust that I'm not gonna give you a Trojan ;), I'll PM you a DLL that wraps the .Net Framework's RegEx.

    Re: Creating RegEx COM wrapper

That article is targeted to Visual Studio 2003 which is quite ancient.

Nonetheless, what you are asking can be done relatively easily. But before we get into that, did you at least try looking for...
  27. Re: CommonControls (Replacement of the MS common controls)

Re: Persisting data in vb6 classes/objects

This has some interest to me as I recently tried to create a list implementation with...

Does this mean your collection has something close to O(1) removal ? I say "something close to" because there still may be some kind of enumeration to find the index but indexing a memory location...
