Re: What if there was a NEW vb6

Well you could rephrase the issue another way, but it will still get trolled here:

"I'm worried about/no longer satisfied with/want something newer than VB6. But I looked at Visual Fred and ran...
  2. Re: VB Program wont open when selected as default for a format

If by "Visual Studio" you mean the IDE, VB6 development is done in its integrated IDE.

I suspect this is a VB.Net (Visual Fred) question, posted in the wrong forum.

    Re: Expose methods in dll

Does it really export COM interfaces, or just flat calls? A "method" is a member of an interface, i.e. flat calls are not "methods" at all but merely "procedures."

Maybe you need to Read That...

Re: How to hash a file

An intrinsic VB6 TextBox is a wrapper for an ANSI Win32 Edit control. This wrapper's .Text property converts to and from a VB6 String's Unicode (UTF-16LE) value. So if one wants to hash the...

Re: What if there was a NEW vb6

What the open sores world calls a "language binding" is really just an language-specific API wrapper. For example one could write a "VB6 binding" for AWS SimpleDB.

I fail to see how that applies...
  6. Re: [RESOLVED] Inserting RichText from RTBs into MS Acess (2007)

If the UserControl helps go ahead and use it.

I wish I could figure out an easy way to have one "toolbar" that links to multiple RTB's on the same Form, working against the currently active one. ...

    Re: autofill combox dinAmiclly

Seems easy enough. Can even be cut down quite a bit if we know only abbreviated names are to be used. Of course this assumes "correct" month names or abbreviated month names are entered as starting...
  8. Re: how to use CreateObject and catch events ?

    Funny to see this gravedig.

Post #3 got me the most PMs of anything I ever wrote. Half chuckling along with my joke, the other half missing the humor and calling me various names ("condescending...

Re: What if there was a NEW vb6

And for office workers that "desktop" is more and more often running ChromeOS or Android. At least at places I go to.

For developers, graphic artists, etc. that won't be true. But even there I...
  10. Re: [RESOLVED] Inserting RichText from RTBs into MS Acess (2007)

    Yeah, it might be cleaner.

I threw together a demo based on a recent version of my RTBCompose UserControl. That at least makes it a little easier to enter and edit the RTF text.

    Two projects:...

Re: ChooseFont dialog - more colors?

Thanks, that looks like a good alternative. But more complicated than I hoped for, considering who will have to maintain it.

I still may end up using it though.
  12. Re: [RESOLVED] Revisit Font Color from Excel to VB6 RTB

I don't work in Access much, but surely it supports a RichTextBox control?

So either in Access or VB6 you'd have a UserForm/Form for editing rows in a table that has a pair of Memo-type fields. ...

Re: ChooseFont dialog - more colors?

Well so far the answer seems to be "no simple way to make the ChooseFont dialog allow a wider range of colors." I sure don't see additional flags so a lot more work would be required.

    Since this...
  14. Re: [RESOLVED] Help communicating with web API (bitfinex)

I'm not sure how the (bizarre to my eye) convention of naming a VB6 Class with a "c" prefix ever came from.

Normally a "hungarian prefix" is meant to indicate the data type and not... module type?...

Re: ChooseFont dialog - more colors?

Hmm, I'm not sure what it might return. Though in any case I'm not sure you can make the combo a lot larger and even if you could a large set like even 64 colors would get clunky to use.

  18. Re: [RESOLVED] Revisit Font Color from Excel to VB6 RTB

    ChooseFont dialog - more colors?

While it is pretty simple to get the dialog to provide a color-picker list, it is limited to 16 basic colors. Example:

Re: How to hash a file

    Re: [RESOLVED] Hex value expression
