    This is exactly my problem.

    You can overcome the "This action cannot be completed....." error by adding the line
    App.OleRequestPendingTimeout = 999999 on front of the GetObject...

    Thanks for the tip but no joy. Changed the registry key as per the Microsoft Support article (and rebooted!), but no change :-(
