    Re: Need Help with Simple Program.

    I don't have any classics anymore. Last one I owned was a 71 Firebird which I sold in the late 90s. Right now I have a 2001 Mustang, a 1996 Thunderbird and an 87 F150.

    I bought the T-Bird used...

    Re: Need Help with Simple Program.

    I can't make heads or tails out of the OP. Not only are the IF statements not correct the criteria for selections don't make sense either.
    For example

    If (age - 16) >= 69 And maxSpend >= 90000...

    Re: help in connecting with COM port

    If the dialup is connected at the time then perhaps the manager is using dialup services.

    The bottom line is that you can not open a port that is already open.

    Also can't help but notice that...

    Re: help in connecting with COM port

    The error message is pretty straight forward. Some other program currently has the port open.

    A comm port can only be accessed by one program at a time.

    Re: VB6: More Textbox Validation

    Actually this is not a good idea

    IsNumeric(txtNewPrice) And CDbl(txtNewPrice) > 0

    VB executes the code on both sides of the And statement even when the first part is false so if the IsNumeric()...
  9. Re: Statement is not valid in namespace (TIC TAC TOE)

    That is also VB.Net code so the thread needs to be moved to the proper section of the forum.

    The code for any forms or...
  10. Re: how do i know if a number in a text is bigger then the selected items in listview

    Note the OP mentions items being "checked" so it may need to test the checked property of the items within the list.
    At any rate a simple loop should do the job but am still not clear on what the OP...

    Re: how to filter numeric data in data grid

    Of course it is not working, you have no operator in there, instead you used the search text twice. You must use an operator such as one of the following < > = <= >= <>

    Your resulting filter...
  12. Re: how do i know if a number in a text is bigger then the selected items in listview

    I'm not sure what you are really trying to do but if you want to see if not all of the items of checked you could just loop until you either reach the end or find an item that is unchecked. You could...

    Re: Open a file in listview

    There is an Open statement that allows you to open a file, this can be used to open it for reading, writing, appending or binary access.

    Thanks, just turning off that news page made a very noticeable difference. I use a pretty fast PC 3.2ghzx4 with 4gb ram and 20mb internet connection running XP and VS2008 Pro on this system.
  19. Re: How to save the text of a textbox ( Newbie )

    Yet this code

    MsgBox 5 Mod 3
    Would work in VB.Net as well, it would just add the ()s to it

    MsgBox(5 Mod 3)

    Care to share some of those settings? One of my biggest issues with VB.Net is...

    From here

    txtCommission.Text = Val(txtSales.Text) * 0.0009
    Case Is = 8
    txtCommission.Text = Val(txtSales.Text) * 0.0008

    9 / 10000 = .0009
    8/10000=.0008
