Re: Code Signing VB6 created app

I get my code signing certificates from http://codesigning.ksoftware.net/. They are a Comodo reseller and they are significantly cheaper than buying direct from Comodo.

    AFAIK you can use signtool,...
  2. Re: Video-Decompression with the VCM (ICM-Win32-API)

I agree with Tanner_H that the location of the linked attachment (VBForums, or outside) wasn't the issue according to FunkyDexter - it was the fact that there was a third-party dependency.

    If he...
  3. Re: Video-Decompression with the VCM (ICM-Win32-API)

Hi FunkyDexter - where in the VB6 Codebank policy is it mentioned that there can't be any dependencies? I've read this post and only see mention of compiled code inside attached ZIP files, and that...
  4. Re: IDE Shortcut To Move Caret to Code Window?

    Fantastic, thanks a lot Dilettante!

If only I had known (or asked) sooner, I shudder to think how much time I've wasted over the past 15 years if I were to add it all up
  5. [RESOLVED] IDE Shortcut To Move Caret to Code Window?

Does anybody know of a shortcut that will move the caret to the code window from the immediate window? For example, I often need to jump to the immediate window to call functions (which is easily...

    Re: ListView autoarrange fails

Alright, I'm flailing away now, so I'll give it a rest after this, but using the LockWindowUpdate function along with the LVM_UPDATE message is showing some promise (again in very limited testing):

    Re: ListView autoarrange fails

I tried "tricking" the control by calling ListItems.Add , the SendMessage LVM_DELETEITEM on the new item, then SendMessage LVM_INSERTITEMA to add the item in hopes that the ListItems collection would...

    Re: ListView autoarrange fails

Darn, that's a shame. I assumed the OCX was just a wrapper for the various API calls and messages, and somehow MS just managed to muck up the one call (and everything else would work as normal)....

    Re: ListView autoarrange fails

I did try LVM_INSERTITEMA as well, just with a StrConv(MakeName(), vbFromUnicode) and it also seemed to work fine in limited testing. I forgot to update my example though.

    Re: ListView autoarrange fails

I have some vague recollection of a similar bug in a different control that could be bypassed by using the API, but it's pretty vague :) It's what gave me the idea to try the SendMessage API though....

    Re: ListView autoarrange fails

I don't think there's a problem with the MakeName function - I use it in my API based solution, and it works fine there.

My hunch is that the OCX wrapper is calculating the width of long text as a...

    Re: ListView autoarrange fails

Here's the sample code - you can just replace the code in your original demo with the following to test (it uses a timer to simulate chunked population so you can also see that dbl-clicking still...

    Re: ListView autoarrange fails

Using SendMessage Me.ListView1.Hwnd, LVM_INSERTITEMW, 0, VarPtr(<LVITEM Structure>) seems to work to fix the problem in my initial testing anyway...I can provide the code if you want, I just have to...

    Re: ListView autoarrange fails

Sorry, I misunderstood/misread your post - I thought you just didn't want to keep calling your Arrange code as a workaround because it was flickering or would allow a user to double-click too soon.

    Re: Animated Spinner Class [vbRichClient5]

Here's an example that creates an Excel spreadsheet while the timer is spinning, then stops the spinner when the population of the spreadsheet is done and shows the Excel window:

If you want to use an animated spinner instead of a marquee bar, then this might be of interest too:

  20. Re: Dynamically Change Controls or Change Index

Since the Index 0 control can't be removed, keep it hidden (.Visible=False) and use dynamic indexes 1-20 and 21-40, etc... instead.

    Re: CreateEnhMetafile hDC DPI

Well, it seems clear that creating a DC requires a driver underneath to manage the DC (whether that be a Display driver or Printer driver, etc...), so perhaps what I am hoping to is impossible.

Re: Where are all the big VB open-source projects?

I think one big issue would be the use of third-party ActiveX OCX/DLLs. Many of them are not open source, but are still incredibly useful. It isn't/wasn't uncommon to be able to buy a one-time,...

  29. Re: [RESOLVED] Instr() vs len() & replace() which one would be faster

Okay, I get it - I agree that the first one should be much faster since it is not manipulating the string at all, just matching and counting.
  30. Re: [RESOLVED] Instr() vs len() & replace() which one would be faster

Just out of curiousity, what are you trying to do with the code? The two pieces of code don't seem to do the same thing. At the end of Code #1, the sNewText variable = "Mississippi river", but at the...

  38. Re: VB6 Dynamic Menu-, Popup- and Toolbar-Demo (vbRichClient-based)
