I have a treeview where some of the items are within the visible bounds of the treeview (short item).
Other items are longer and hence the right portion of the string is off the...
Was wonder what is the best way to identify "call home" type programs?
Started out by looking at AutoRuns and Services and found some.
Know from experience Adobe loads call home and lot of other...
FWIW: I built a new system recently with an ASUS H97-Plus MOBO and installed Windows 7 (32 bit)
Secure Boot is greyed out. Could never get hold of ASUS, but in reading many posts a lot of people...
Not sure how your code is set up, but will throw this out to consider:
1) Where possible drop the picture boxes (if each picturebox represents an icon) and create a Sprite instead.
2) Try with...
After my post to Bonnie realized I should of tried that instead of CCur.
Thanks to both you and Bonnie for the assist.
Thanks for input Bonnie (Ms. West), but still same results.
Interestingly if I divide the formula by 100 I get the correct numbers not value.
90.10 = ((27468.7 - 27288.5) * 50) /...
I am getting one wrong value for one of my product totals.
The value shows as 9009.96 instead of 9010.00 << off by 4 cents.
All product totals beside this one are correct.
The VB6 variables...
Someone confused BUT interesting comment.
Get the 3 Name concept.
So my guess is your saying one of these three names -has junk in it- and is then showing as the Unknown Account.
That is the...
As always thank you for your input.
Will do some checking comparing old disk to new to see if another user was listed for permissions with problem directory(s).
Thanks for the links, but already familiar with the process.
MY QUESTION IS:
1) How did that permission get generated since I did NOT create it?
2) Who created it (per your...
Thanks both for responses:
System never been on domain.
The drive was copied from an old IDE drive and different system to this one.
Can you point me in right direction...
My Access DB would NOT open last night with error:
In attempting to solve it I check the directory (folder) security and found the following:"Account Unknown"
Using Regedit I could not find...
This link might help a bit.
My apologies to the forum. Did NOT intend to bring back up the VB versus NET debate with:
Will curb extraneous comments in the future.
FWIW: I still use and run DAO, and Office97 (including Access97). Took a bit of work to get it working under Windows7, but it does work.
My understanding VB5/6 ADO is not the same as NET ADO, just...
Just finished playing around with the procedue.
1) As previously stated, trying to recall TextInABox from itself by substituting the TextOut call (recursive procedure), I get "Stack Overflow"
Initially when converting the routine I used API TextOut.
After reevaluating the procedure, it appears that the TextOut call is really recalling this same procedure making it recursive....
Thanks for the explanation.
I always thought TTF fonts compensated for arbitrary Destination-Sizes.
but I get your point they must reside on a Pixel boundary (no aliasing).
No familiar with...
Thanks for responding.
I'm trying to come up with a better Font Resizing routine for captions or non-captions (e.g. checkbox, label, command button) and for text in a single line textbox,...
Got it. Didn't know if Olaf, Bonnie, or diletantte, etc. might make some input.
What LaVolpe is getting at is that you need a valid hWnd (handle to the textbox).
The way to check this is:
hWnd = FindWindow(whatever parameters)
If hWnd <> 0 Then
Form in pixels. Rarely use Twips.
Will try picturebox.
Thought I'd post the original link where I got the code so you can see results.
For test purposes I have two Command buttons on the form. I am trying to change the caption in Command1 by pressing Command2 using this code
Have tried setting AutoRedraw both True and...
Thanks for the post. Will check it out.
Still interest why the other function fails (no output)
Thanks for responses:
Should of stated with post, that objective is to get a better Resizing font routine which fills the height and width of the bounding rectangle to its maximum
I want to pass in a control and have the text automatically size to a control bounding rectangle (client area), both width and height
since I've never really found one that works as well as I like....
This is a little trick I use that may help when testing.
Assign each SQL line to its own string.
This way you can put a debug.print after EACH line using debug.Print strSQL to make sure...
LaVolpe: You might also want to take a look at Brad's site. Has both.
Thanks for the History lesson.
While I agree, Microsoft is definitely trying to manipulate things in their favor in the long run.
If Microsoft says NET or...
Stumbled across this article published June 2014 - which gave me a little hope, VB6 will be around awhile.
DataMiser: PICKY _ PICKY _ PICKY
I was referring other than the Error handler, so the 'Do Something" is two lines!
Might try getting out of the other side of the bed...
I hear yeah -- BUT -- the entire procedure is only 2 lines.
Never got to the second line.
As stated, my Error routine is Non-Issue because I received a Msgbox error that was system...
Interestingly it had nothing to do with the Shell or Permissions.
FWIW: The shelled program uses a third party OCX.
The OCX was registered after the build, BUT the program was NOT...

The above line is causing an Unexpected Error in Windows 7.
Worked great for years until this new Build and reinstall of Windows 7...
dilettante is not the only one I've seen discussing this.
I've been doing this a long time. Started back with mainframes when they didn't even have collators and you had to read the holes on the...
Thanks all for input. Was busy most of the day so just got a chance to read -- haven't digested all yet -- but will do my best to respond.
First to clarify a few things.
1) All hardware has...
Thanks for all the input.
Re: Hardware. (most everything has been upgraded to new)
My experience has told me "If it ain't broke don't fix it". I have been upgrading MOBO for years with older...
I just had to do a new build because the power supply plug actually fused to the motherboard.
I installed Windows 7 on this new board (ASUS H97 Plus) and have had nothing but problems because of my...
I don't know where you get the time to keep up with M$.
