    Re: Form loading issue!

    Try this:

    Dim frm1 As New updateNotify
    frm1.ShowDialog()

    See if that works.

    I suspect the issue is one of scope. By using Show, the code continues to run, and the variable falls out of...
  3. Re: Gridview is larger than page view, What should i do?

    If I remember right, in amongst the proprtties, you can set up pagination. Experince has taught me that about 50 is the max that a person can realistically take in and deal with in a single chunk.

    Re: Compile with all dependencies

    I've seen it extend from two lines of thinking:

  20. Re: Microsoft tosses in the towel on mobileware?

    personally, it doesn't affect me too much one way or the other... as long as the desktop survives the next 5 years as does Windows Server, IIS & SQL Server. After that, I won't care.

    Try deleting the bin & obj folders and rebuild the project. Sometimes things get cached and it doesn't pick up changes like it should.

  38. Re: Storing a Connection String in My.Settings?

    The part that's missing is that a setting of type "Connection String" is ONLY application-level... it can't be user-scoped. In order to make it user scoped it would have to be a string.

  39. Re: Storing a Connection String in My.Settings?

    HOnestly? I don't. Usually the database is in a static location outside the user's control, so it's simply set in the config file and that's that.
