Re: Thoughts - drainage ditch detection

Unfortunately most agricultural drainage is plastic (HDPE) - and the ground is too wet for any differential there. I think a two factor thing of (a) using ultrasonic sensors and (b) designing...

Re: Thoughts - drainage ditch detection

No - I want my machine to be able to detect and therefore not fall into the ditch...think of it as a really slow moving quite large Roomba.

    Ditch dimensions

I could also geo-fence it with a GPS...

    Thoughts - drainage ditch detection

I'm looking into an autonomous mobile unit for part of a farm/field data collection thing.
What would be the best way of detecting that it is heading towards a ditch/drain?

    Thoughts:-
    1) A...

  7. Re: [CodeDom] Putting code in a region directive?

  8. Re: [CodeDom] Putting code in a region directive?

  9. Re: [CodeDom] Putting code in a region directive?

Ah - but how do I make this happen in CodeDOM? I can put a region around a whole class by adding these to the .StartDirectives and .EndDirectives of the CodeTypeDeclaration - but how to do this for...
  10. [RESOLVED] [CodeDom] Putting code in a region directive?

According to the MSDN documentation, you create a #Region with the CodeRegionDirective class... but it is not obvious to me how to put code inside that region?

  11. [CodeGen/Roslyn] Turn a code compile unit to VB.Net code

When working with Roslyn and Code Gen it is useful to be able to visualise the code graph you have built as raw VB.Net code (since most of us are accustomed to thinking in code).

    This snippet...
  12. Re: Any difference between a valid C# class name and a valid VB.Net one?

Spot on - as I discovered when code generation met the Turkish Lira currency code [TRY]... so it looks like I'm going to need to have two language specific functions.
  13. Any difference between a valid C# class name and a valid VB.Net one?

I'm doing some CodeGen work and I want it to use either C# or VB.Net depending on the user selection.

One of the things that is needed is a valid class name - is there any need to implement two...

At the very start of the module that has your start code add the following line:

    Option Explicit
    Option Strict On

Now recompile your code and fix any error messages it gives you.
  16. Anyone done or doing CodeGen with CodeDOM?

I have questions on using the new Roslyn compiler framework but no real point posting them if I'm talking in an empty room - anybody used these?

Re: Printing problem. Only first page prints.

I'd go the opposite way and code my own print library because there's always something that the report tool doesn't do the way you want.

Re: Printing problem. Only first page prints.

The PrintPage method (which you have an extract of in your first post) gets called once for each page printed. This means you need to keep track of what you are printing and how much you have...
  19. Re: Need expert help with a type initializer that is throwing an except

Maybe load the form up in the form designer and see if all the controls on it are OK (none have a red X and warning message)?
  20. Re: Need expert help with a type initializer that is throwing an except

A "type load" exception occurs when the .NET framework common language runtime (effectively the .NET runner) is unable to load a class (type) that is referred to in your code.

    The most likely...

Re: How would you unit test this method?

You should aim to test every field in your model, both a positive test and a negative test.
(i.e. test that does raise a validation error and test that does not)

There are tools (such as "Pex")...

Re: What if there was a NEW vb6

IMO Microsoft Lightswitch is a far easier-to-use RAD environment than VB5 (then VB6) ever was.
If you want to throw together business applications, that is the way to go.

Re: How to place my site on Top of Googlle?

That's what all the successful companies...
