    Re: Post Race!

How do you consider it ok to kill a fish or a lizard and are against a chicken or a cow?

If you are using "animal IQ" then that lizard and chicken are pretty close - right?

For what it's worth - I run VB.Net web services that both my WEB BROWSER code talks to as well as my Android code talks to.

Re: Dealing with Nothing In IComparer

If you are sorting on multiple columns it gets even more complicated as you enter the world of ASCENDING for some columns and DESCENDING for other.

Re: Dealing with Nothing In IComparer

    Just to clarify...

This should really read: "If just x is nothing return -1 otherwise if y is nothing return 1. "

If both x and y are not nothing you do a STRING.COMPARE to get the -1, 0 or 1...

Re: Dealing with Nothing In IComparer

@tg - I believe be said he was taking the DB nulls and representing them as NOTHING on the VB client side - or I missed what he said. It's one or the other :)

Re: Dealing with Nothing In IComparer

Actually if both x and y are nothing you return zero. If just x is nothing return -1 otherwise return 1. This puts the nothings first.

Re: What if there was a NEW vb6

I was suggesting that the "display" of controls should be lightweight (knowing of the .Net control bloat) and then morph the same "action and event" logic over each "display" element. That way JIT...

Re: What if there was a NEW vb6

Actually from what I am hearing him say it is all about controls.

  28. VS 2013 Re: Who uses APPLICATION space - and knows of a "lifecycle" problem

Said "0" was a not valid timeout figure - could be a bool in the screen I did not notice. It looked different then the IIS 7.x site.

btw - is there a APPLICATION START and END event?
  29. VS 2013 Re: Who uses APPLICATION space - and knows of a "lifecycle" problem

  30. VS 2013 Who uses APPLICATION space - and knows of a "lifecycle" problem

I'm storing security info in APPLICATION and it appears to go away every so often - maybe every 20 or 30 minutes.

Has anyone experienced anything like this?

  39. Re: What languages are databases back-ends created in

In the 80's we created them in machine code - not on PC's at that time.

I'm working on one right now - kind of a rough prototype in VB.Net and will migrate that to C++ when we do the next pass.
