  1. Re: Dynamically Change Controls or Change Index

Since the Index 0 control can't be removed, keep it hidden (.Visible=False) and use dynamic indexes 1-20 and 21-40, etc... instead.

    Re: CreateEnhMetafile hDC DPI

Well, it seems clear that creating a DC requires a driver underneath to manage the DC (whether that be a Display driver or Printer driver, etc...), so perhaps what I am hoping to is impossible.

    CreateEnhMetafile hDC DPI

I'm using the CreateEnhMetafile function, defined as follows:

Private Declare Function CreateEnhMetaFile Lib "gdi32.dll" Alias "CreateEnhMetaFileA" (ByVal hdcRef As Long, ByVal lpFileName As...
  5. Re: I keep getting an error when trying to create a DHCP server.

A quick Google search of the error message indicates that this error is usually due to a firewall or antivirus preventing binding, or perhaps another program is already bound to the IP/port? Have you...

Re: Where are all the big VB open-source projects?

I think one big issue would be the use of third-party ActiveX OCX/DLLs. Many of them are not open source, but are still incredibly useful. It isn't/wasn't uncommon to be able to buy a one-time,...

    Re: MJPEG Webcam Receiver

Re: the OCX - Diletantte was referring to Picbox2Pixels.ocx. It's non-standard,and others are unlikely to have it.

  10. Re: [RESOLVED] Instr() vs len() & replace() which one would be faster

Okay, I get it - I agree that the first one should be much faster since it is not manipulating the string at all, just matching and counting.
  11. Re: [RESOLVED] Instr() vs len() & replace() which one would be faster

Just out of curiousity, what are you trying to do with the code? The two pieces of code don't seem to do the same thing. At the end of Code #1, the sNewText variable = "Mississippi river", but at the...
  12. Re: Get WinKey without Admin Rights ?

I think you are requesting too many access rights (KEY_ALL_ACCESS), which is why you need administrator permissions.

If you are just trying to read a value then you should be requesting the...

    Re: Movement problem

Passel is right - you should be setting the control Top and Left properties to 0 when the control has moved off the bottom-right edge of the window.

Also, you will get a smoother looking motion of...
  16. Re: VB6 Dynamic Menu-, Popup- and Toolbar-Demo (vbRichClient-based)

I've discovered a couple of issues with the current/latest menu implementation. I'm trying to familiarize myself with the code to see if I can fix the issues myself, but I figured I would report them...

Re: How do I handle ZIP files in VB6?

I think these two ideas are a bit at odds:

AFAIK, the Zip file format is well defined, and I don't know if there's any part of the spec for "pseudo files" (though I may be wrong...
  19. Re: VB6 Dynamic Menu-, Popup- and Toolbar-Demo (vbRichClient-based)

Just a thought - but in some cases we might want to offer dynamic user-defined captions, and a user might want to use the pipe character (however unlikely). This would need some extra escaping code,...

    Re: Signing a program installer

    This isn't really a VB6 question, but:

As Dilettante mentioned, you will need a code signing certificate. For the past few years I've been purchasing mine from KSoftware (a Comodo resller), and...

  23. Re: Combobox dropdown not showing. Shows with identical code.

Changing the nHeight parameter of your CreateWindowEx call to a value large enough to include the dropdown portion of the combobox seems to fix the problem. I don't know if this should be necessary...
  24. Re: Is there a way to check the number of characters in label caption?

You can use the Len() function on the Caption property (or any string) to get its length in characters.

    Re: Provider cannot be found

Print your connection string to the Debug window, and you'll see that your provider looks like this:

  28. Re: Select Case with Null - Compiler Bug, or Bad Logic?

So most interactions with Null (such as comparisons, e.g. If "A" = Null Then, or arithmetic, e.g. 5 + Null) result in Null. A notable exception would be string concatenation, in which case Null...
  29. Re: Select Case with Null - Compiler Bug, or Bad Logic?

  30. Re: Select Case with Null - Compiler Bug, or Bad Logic?

  32. Select Case with Null - Compiler Bug, or Bad Logic?

Not sure if this is a compiler bug, or just bad logic on my part. Consider the following code:

    Sub Test()
    Dim l_Test As Variant

    l_Test = Null

    Select Case l_Test
  33. Re: key is not unique in collection and some other errors

  39. Re: Legacy App Error: "Cannot open the microsoft jet engine workgroup information fil
