  1. Re: MSCOMM32 replacement; opinion?

Have you tried checking the inbuffer count before a read to see if that helps?
  2. Re: MSCOMM32 replacement; opinion?

Hmm sounds like the problem is probably the driver for the port. I assume this is probably a USB addon?

Never heard of SComm before so can't tell you anything about it. I have used PDComm and...
  3. Re: Moving Objects On 2 Different Computers Using Winsock

Assuming the same code is running at both locations then you need to get rid of that hard coded number you have there. Guy1(2)
and replace it with a variable. You need to do this anywhere you have...
  4. Re: Picturebox does not work in windows 7

I am not sure what you are trying to say when you talk about it reverting to a different mode. XP Mode is a VM [virtual machine] it runs within Windows 7 but it is an actual OS it can't revert to...
  5. Re: Picturebox does not work in windows 7

Did you look at the log file for that form to see for sure what the problem is?
  6. Re: Picturebox does not work in windows 7

Could be that he is using a 3rd party listview in that project and that it is not installed on that PC.
  7. Re: Moving Objects On 2 Different Computers Using Winsock

Your code shows that you are moving 1 in one routine and the other in the other routine.

What is it that you want to happen and is the same code running on both pcs
  8. Re: Two recordsets on the same table .Update

btw your sample could be written

    dbmain.Execute "Update Towns set TownName='vbForums',TownLoaction='internet' where id=25"

That would update both fields and would be faster than the method...
  9. Re: Two recordsets on the same table .Update

rs.Edit does not apply to ADO that was dropped after DAO. .AddNew is still used to add a record if omitted then edit is assumed.

I have no idea what the OP is really trying to do here. That...

  12. Re: Picturebox does not work in windows 7

CP/M does not ring a bell.

I'm not quite sure what my first real PC CPU was. I would think it was an 8086 but can't be sure. I know it had dual 5 1/4 FDDs CGA and 512megs of ram
  13. Re: Picturebox does not work in windows 7

I actually still have a copy of DOS 6.22 been a while since I used it though ;)

My first actual PC came with Dos 2.1 and some graphical addon. I forget what it was now. I am thinking it was...
  14. Re: Picturebox does not work in windows 7

Sounds like you have loaded a project on a machine which does not have one or more OCX used by the project installed/registered properly.

VB will change those controls to picture boxes after...

Re: program cant find ocx file

I don't know where you read that but that does not ring true.
In your VB folder there is a file titled redist.txt the list is long and comdlg32.ocx is there.

Here is a small snippet from that...

Re: program cant find ocx file

I would ignore the advice in post 6.

Use a proper installer. Do not resort to manually registering controls as suggested there that can cause you lots of issues if you are not very careful with it.

  21. Re: Run-time error '3704' - Operation is not allowed when the object is closed

Have you tried stepping through your code?

I would think that you would get a different error if there is a problem with the sql or the connection.
It seems like maybe something else is going on...

Re: VB6 Invalid Procedure Call or Argument

I also agree with the advice to comment out the error handler.
Another option would be to add an error handler in the routine that you believe is causing the issue, also add line numbers to it and...

    Re: Receiving Data from Com1

No you would not use the code you have shown and yes you would need to do some rewritting.

The keys are that you read whatever data is incoming and store it in your buffer.

Yes some of us will not even bother to look at it when it is posted as a zip, especially so when there is no effort by the OP to give us any info about the code other than it being slow.
