    ...I should also point out that if I loop through and add each row instead of using the .Merge function it works perfectly. So I'm definitely doing something wrong with the Merge :blush:

    Hi Si,

    As I said, I have no clue about DB stuff and SQL (too many years dealing with embedded device code!!) so will have to look at the command object solution.

    I'll bite the bullet and post...

    Thanks for that - unfortunately I need to do this merge from a VB.Net application.

    I was hoping someone could tell if something like the DataSet.Merge(xxxxx) function was appropriate...
