When I started reading this post, I could only think of one thing...only dilettante would come up with something like "slurp'n'split". But, after reading the rest, I see that you didn't actually...

Re: Fast count of words in a list

That we did, 8 months ago! (unfortunately for old men, memories ain't like they used to be). I THINK what I'll end up doing is not using ANY list boxes, but end up loading the excel files into a db...

Re: Fast count of words in a list

WOW! Kool, Olaf....I'll take a look. I have the ASV, NIV84, KJV and BEB all in Spreadsheet format....am importing the NIV 2011 now from a PDF. Easy to xfer all 'back to' text format, but don't...
  8. Re: how to pop up a msgbox if a user tries to open the same program again?

I always wondered if any resources were still 'locked up'/being used by just the initializing of the Sub Main. That is why I always used the End command. Probably not, but never investigated. OTH,...
  9. Re: how to pop up a msgbox if a user tries to open the same program again?

form_load (do you have OTHER stuff in Form_activate?)
  10. Re: how to pop up a msgbox if a user tries to open the same program again?

Running from an executable, that is (also, I don't think you need the Unload me---I don't have it in my programs and they all SEEM to work fine.
  11. Re: how to pop up a msgbox if a user tries to open the same program again?

    If App.PrevInstance = True Then
MsgBox "the program already running on your computer"
    Unload Me
    End
    End If

So, maybe, instead of placing all the words in a listbox (which I do through a load routine reading an excel spreadsheet), maybe I should simply place that word list into a DB,...

I understand LaVolpe, DataMiser and dilettante, but your posts always confuse me. Guess they think at a higher level in Greece (been there, LOVE the country, tho).

@LaV...I'll give the API a shot.
...TotListItms probably should be an Int. (will try this part first).

  18. Re: Moving simple code from vbnet to vb6

Also, this line will not work in VB6:

Dim Result As String = ""

    Either change it to

Dim Result as String '(common VB6 syntax)
    Result = ""

  26. Re: Why Commandbuttons are not caught in the Me.controls collection

NW says: Also, it appears that "15136253" is the default button/form colour?

NO, it is a beige color. (at least here in the States!) :-)
  27. Re: Copying Rows "X" number of times based on cell value

Here's a quick similar example....in this case, if the first column entry is > 1 in sheet1, it will copy the rest of the row to the second1, but if it is not, it won't copy the row.

    I know it is...
  28. Re: Copying Rows "X" number of times based on cell value

  29. Re: Copying Rows "X" number of times based on cell value

Yes, you would get an error, because of the line: r.Copy .Range("A" & n) (.Range has to 'belong' to something.)
Anyway, without indentation, your code is a bit difficult to read, however, it...
  30. Re: [RESOLVED] Moving a Frame at runtime

Yeh, Frames seem to a tricky control sometimes...just don't want to behave as many others, even other containers.

  33. [RESOLVED] Moving a Frame at runtime

  35. Re: Script to count number of files in folder/subfolders

In what type of programming language are you going to use this information/code? IN VB6, you can use many methods to find it. One is using a filelistbox...put one on your form, set its directory to...

  40. Re: right format to calculate hours

Correct....however, do you want to show all that in your listview? I would think not....either a tenth of an hour, like 5.5 or a hundredth of an hour, 5.52, would probably best understood/displayed....
