  1. VS 2013 Re: linQ - Need to optimize slow subquery code (.contains)

My instinct tells me that, if NID and PID are both indexed, the example without the UNION would be quicker. Not tested, though...and off to bed. Have no idea how Sqlite might have optimized it in...
  2. VS 2013 Re: linQ - Need to optimize slow subquery code (.contains)

For a two-tier hierarchy, surely you don't need the UNION at all?

    i.e.

"SELECT * FROM Nodes Where NID=@ID Union All Select * From Nodes Where PID=@ID"

    is the same as

    "SELECT * FROM Nodes...

    Re: True = False?

It was just meant as an example of when 'Visible' isn't 'Visible'. To more precisely illustrate an example of your problem we only need one more line of code:

    Option Explicit

    Re: True = False?

Start a new project and, then, to the form, add a textbox, leaving it's visible property set to true

Paste this into the form's code and run the project:

    Option Explicit

    Private Sub...

    Re: Numeric

Don't really need the loop when you have the Index of the textbox that was changed - it's one of the benefits of having a control array in the first place :p

    If Not IsNumeric(Text18(Index).Text)...

Re: Need a simple demo for vbRichClient.cFSO

  8. Re: How to tell the pixels of a JPEG image file using VB6

In this particular instance, that may well be the case, since this sounds like a one-off exercise on the part of the OP. But, let's be fair, the thread started to side-track toward the most peformant...
  9. Re: How to tell the pixels of a JPEG image file using VB6

I don't understand you sometimes, dil and I pay attention to what you post because I hold you in high esteem, knowledge-wise. You seem to have this purist view that everything should be coded around...
  10. Re: VB6 Handling of Alpha-Layered Windows with vbRichClient5

The Cairo surface object has a number of methods to write out it's content to an image file (Surface.WriteContentToJpgFile "C:\picture.jpg" is one) and also the ability to Draw it's content to a...

    Image Carousel Class [vbRichClient]

Here's a class that you can use to create Image Carousel controls as either standard VB6 User Controls or vbRichClient widgets. This demo shows how to do the former; the UC is just a small wrapper...

  17. Re: Tooltips, Balloon Tips, Tray Notofications [vbRichClient]

  19. Re: Tooltips, Balloon Tips, Tray Notofications [vbRichClient]

No problem, Olaf. Though you might want to see if you can improve upon the sizing/positioning aspects of the balloon and its stem. If you can do that the code-size might reduce drastically! My brain...

  21. Tooltips, Balloon Tips, Tray Notofications [vbRichClient]

Here's a dll I've created that provides visually nicer and enhanced (functionality-wise) tooltips. It is dependent on Olaf's vbRichClient (the nice drawing comes via Cairo functionality) but is...

  23. Re: Stumped on issue with mshflexgrid and overlaid textbox.

I think some of the problems relate to the order in which events fire.
Anyway, this approach should cover most of what you are trying to achieve, or at least help to see the solution from a...

Re: DEVIDE string in 4 parts

Yes, the OP says that "-" delimits field 1 from the rest but that doesn't mean that "-" won't appear in vars 2,3 or 4 does it? In which case #3 and #5 will not work without further code. Personally,...

Re: DEVIDE string in 4 parts

Just pointing it out. :) Although, saying that, both #3 and #5 seem perfectly happy to assume that a dash can never appear within a field's contents which is no less valid as a blanket assumption!

Re: DEVIDE string in 4 parts

Just to throw in a quick hint; you don't need to specify a single character as the the delimiter when using the Split function. So, for posts #3 and #5, you can use

    s = Split(Data, " - ")

    and...
  28. Re: Video-Decompression with the VCM (ICM-Win32-API)
