She isn't? Funny, a look at her policies and her record suggest otherwise. Her biggest claim to fame as a Senator was her backroom deals with Big India to establish a new base of operations to...

    Re: VB6 - The case for UTF-8

BasicBuffer, Binary Stream Class or something along similar lines might go a long way toward providing an alternative to working with String variables.

    Poll: Re: VBA Sucks???

I'm not saying Droidsheet supports VBA, but it does use a dialect of Basic as a macro language.

So such a thing isn't beyond the realm of possibility. But bizarro languages such as LUA,...

Re: Registry Calls - XP vs Win10

So yet again, another case of trying to "look where the light seems good." Not a Win10 issue at all but a 64-bit Windows issue.

Maybe we need a new FAQ entry, something like: "So you think you...

  7. Re: [RESOLVED] Save All Contents of Picturebox in WINDOWS XP

It is hard to imagine that you really want to trash your "back" (or "black") PictureBox and end up with a giant, potentially paletted, BMP file though.

There are far better ways to do this. First...

    Poll: Re: VBA Sucks???

    This was a scary trend.

Do you know where it came from? It was based on a random theory in early education that sadly got put into practice for a few years with disastrous results. It "paired"...

    Poll: Re: VBA Sucks???

Today's medicine show sells yesterday's miracle elixirs with new additives. Often they skip the middle man and just peddle the raw additives. These are called "patterns."

  10. Re: Time difference giving incorrect results vb 6

There is no telling what a user (even yourself) might have the Short Time format defined to be. This is for display only.
  11. Re: Time difference giving incorrect results vb 6

Why would you turn a Date value (the Now() function) into a String and then pass it as a Date parameter causing VB6 to laugh at you, say "ok guy," and just try to convert your String back into a Date...

    Re: vb6 callbacks and crashing

I suspect the callback gets invoked on a separate worker thread inside this "audio library." COM has probably not been initialized on the thread so a COM method call fails.

    It amazes me that...

Case 3 also "works by luck" so to speak... the format string isn't actually used, just as in Case 4.
  15. Re: Save All Contents of Picturebox in WINDOWS XP

How does the Form fit in? Does it at all, since you say you want to capture the black PictureBox and its contents?

    Re: File->Make Project Greyed Out

There are many threads offering this same solution over many years. I'm not sure we ever did track it down to a specific one, but it seems to be caused by some buggy IDE add-in.

Re: StdDataFormat as a data parser

    Note:

This class has an UnFormat method and an UnFormat event. The method is what your client program calls to "un-format" a String value into a strongly-typed value. The event is used if you...

    StdDataFormat as a data parser

People often rely on String to binary data type coercion, but it can fall down (hard) in many scenarios.

There is always the cross-locale issue with many data types (Booleans, numbers, and...
  21. Re: [RESOLVED] VB6 standard exe runs but startup form never appears!

It is hard to imagine how anti-virus software fits into this picture.

I've never heard of such a thing except where something very bizarre is going on such as a "dropper" program that stores PE...
  22. Re: trying to determine the days between dates between now and the dates listed using

The "overflow" error is the key I suppose.

A string like "07-26-2016" will probably coerce as expected, though values such as "07-12-2016" can yield unpredictable results which is why you can't...
  23. Re: trying to determine the days between dates between now and the dates listed using

When you format data for display you are "killing" it. It is now dead and you can't use it for general operations (calculations, etc.).

Re: How does VB6 store Decimal data type?

    BTW:

The downside of this is that CDec() is locale-aware. So to do this "right" you need to use calls to VariantChangeTypeEx passing LOCALE_INVARIANT to it.

Re: How does VB6 store Decimal data type?

I'd be more interested in a Decimal "literal" format.

As things stand now there are some valid Decimal values you can only get by coercing a String:

    Option Explicit

    Private Sub Form_Load()...
  26. Re: VB6 standard exe runs but startup form never appears!

If you don't have a Vista-aware manifest you get "XP" appcompat shims anyway, minus only the version-lie.

No idea why you'd need to disable desktop composition in a VB6 program, unless the program...

Re: How does VB6 store Decimal data type?

An excellent point. So aside from perhaps possible optimization by the compiler when handling it, a Decimal type added to VB wouldn't really buy us very much.
  28. Re: How to save a picturebox with drawings?

Don't be too grateful, this version of the program was thrown together quickly and may have bugs such as GDI handle leaks. I also didn't get too creative with the Shape and Line controls.

  29. Re: How to save a picturebox with drawings?

That sample requires drawing, which you are not doing. So it won't be too useful to you.

I'll look for a simple capture example but somebody is likely to post one before I do.
  30. Re: How to save a picturebox with drawings?

Ahh, so not drawing at all but moving Line and Shape controls around. Gonna need capture for that then!
  31. Re: How to save a picturebox with drawings?

A search here should turn up many examples of this, both in threads here and in the CodeBank. But here's another example:

Re: How does VB6 store Decimal data type?

Actually you can have non-Variant DECIMAL data, it just wasn't implemented as a value type on its own in VB by the time VB6 arrived on the scene. The .Net Travesty came along and put an end to VB,...
