Re: [RESOLVED] Why can I not drop a Shortcut

How are you building your list of files? I just tried using Dir$ on a shortcut, and it returned the ".lnk" extension.

Re: [RESOLVED] Why can I not drop a Shortcut

No, that wouldn't be accurate. The filename without the .LNK extension (i.e. "Shortcut to Hex Editor.exe") did not exist.

Not true either - the filename with the .LNK extenson (i.e....

Re: [RESOLVED] Why can I not drop a Shortcut

Shortcuts have the .LNK extension which is always hidden by Windows Explorer unless you make changes to your registry. That's why DD wasn't working - the filename without the .LNK extension didn't...

Re: [RESOLVED] Why can I not drop a Shortcut

Was that because "Shortcut to Hex Editor.exe" didn't exist? e.g. the file was called "Shortcut to Hex Editor.exe.lnk"?

  6. Re: [vbRichClient] TabStrip Control (Firefox-like)

I see - it's just the "hot" terminology that confused me. To me that word implies that it will use that colour when an item has the mouse hovering over it. Now I understand its usage here, thanks!
  7. Re: [vbRichClient] TabStrip Control (Firefox-like)

Okay I see that, thanks. But I guess the part that is confusing me is the "Hot" colour - I'm expecting that to change the text colour when the mouse is over the button, but I don't see that...
  8. Re: [vbRichClient] TabStrip Control (Firefox-like)

    Hi Colin,

Didn't do anything except click the area above the tabstrip - it changes the background to yellowish, and all the text and lines became red. Clicking it again restores the background...
  9. Re: [vbRichClient] TabStrip Control (Firefox-like)

One thing I've just noticed - if you set the HoverColor it seems to draw all of the text and borders in that colour. AM I misunderstanding how it should work?
  10. Re: [vbRichClient] TabStrip Control (Firefox-like)

Impressive! Thanks for posting this! I'm playing around with it a bit now and it looks very solid so far :)

Thanks Olaf - I've been away for a few days, but I am going to take a closer look at the other demos today. I ran (compiled) your demo #3 and here are my results (to compare with georgekar's).

  16. Re: VB6 LightWeight COM and vbFriendly-BaseInterfaces

I've just taken a look at the LightWeight Object-Lists demo, and I think it may have the answers to my question re: adding lightweight COM objects to a collection. I'll study it and see.
  17. Re: VB6 LightWeight COM and vbFriendly-BaseInterfaces

    Hi Olaf,

Thanks for this demo, I've been experimenting with it and it has been very interesting. I have a couple of questions/observations:

I suspect that your code against the scripting dictionary is faster because the scripting dictionary is compiled (whereas your pure VBA code is interpreted, and therefore slower). You might get...

I mentioned the "if not". If your software **is** actively under attack/defeated by crackers, then my advice changes.

Speaking only to this point - a self-deleting application is likely to deter only the most undetermined of crackers.

Is your program already under attack by crackers? If not (and this is...
  22. Re: Why the execution times of these two methods differ so hugely?

I haven't tested either method yet, but did you test them both compiled, or in the IDE? If you just tested them in the IDE then I suggest testing them compiled to see what the difference is.
