    Re: Non-normalized data

I think that IkkeEnGij's suggestion will be your best approach, going forward. If your users are starting to see the need for analyzing information in Table B then you should address it now rather...

If your program is running on more than one machine at a time then it could be a concurrency issue?

    Re: problem with change result

Personally, I found it a bit rude that the OP posted a link in response to posts #2 and #3 but maybe that's just me...

No words, just a link. I won't even click on it...

    Re: problem with change result

What DataMiser said. We appreciate that English may not be your first language but, in any language, you would not mention the 'amount of' something without telling people what you are referring to....
  5. Re: [vbRichClient] TabStrip Control (Firefox-like)

The 'hot' thing only applies to the scroll left/right and the AddTab buttons, though it could be implemented, in addition, for the tabs themselves. I just didn't see the need...
  6. Re: [vbRichClient] TabStrip Control (Firefox-like)

The RC5 version is not the issue (though I am using v5.0.36). The reason that it's all showing as red is that I (un-wisely!) set both the BorderColour and the 'CaptionColour' to red in the form code,...
  7. Re: [vbRichClient] TabStrip Control (Firefox-like)

Hmmm. Nowhere in the public interface can you set the hover colour except (indirectly) in the public SetColours method where it is passed in as ButtonHotColour - and that works as it should?

    What...
  8. Re: [vbRichClient] TabStrip Control (Firefox-like)

Probably an oversight on my part. I'll investigate and post back...
  9. [vbRichClient] TabStrip Control (Firefox-like)

Here is my take on a modern browser-like TabStrip, which incorporates all of the features found in such controls such as animated open and closing of tabs, drag and drop to re-arrange, etc.

    The...

Re: Comparing 2 Card Values W/ Suits

    Doesn't quite answer the question! In Sam's example, they're both 5's ;)
  11. Re: Auto Scrolling ListView - There must be a better way

    If Y > Y Then
    ListView1.ListItems(ListView1.HitTest(X, Y).index + 1).EnsureVisible

That is not going to do anything! Are you sure that is the actual code you are using?

    Re: Flat border webbrowser ?

Do it in code, making it flat rather than non-flat.

Ask a vague question, get a vague answer....

    Re: Math: Single from Double

Oh yeah, missed that part of the spec! Though you could still do it that way without converting to a string. Just keep multiplying by 10 in a loop until the numbers differ. Kinda inelegant, though!

    Re: Math: Single from Double

So 'scale up' the decimal first. i.e. convert 1.923491634123 to 1923491.634123 and then apply FIX to that, no?

  16. Re: [VB6] Register any control as a drop target that shows the Explorer drag image

Since I don't need much of this functionality, I'm continuing with my own scaled-down implementation. So, I added the various RegisterClipboardFormatW lines to my own code, in Class_Initialise, and...
  17. Re: [VB6] Register any control as a drop target that shows the Explorer drag image

    That's a shame about the dropdescription :(

As for the MouseXY, it's just a matter of convenience. In my modified class I raise all the drag/drop events (Enter, Over, Leave, Drop) in order to...
  18. Re: [VB6] Register any control as a drop target that shows the Explorer drag image

    Making progress, I see...

By the way, I noticed that IDO_AddDropDesc does not work for CF_UNICODETEXT/CF_TEXT: No error, just no description rendered...

EDIT: Also meant to mention that your...
  19. Re: [VB6] Register any control as a drop target that shows the Explorer drag image

When you put it that way I guess there is quite a lot left to do!

Anyway, if somebody comes along and wants something that encapsulates the various disparate posts in this thread, they will have...
  20. Re: [VB6] Register any control as a drop target that shows the Explorer drag image

    Ahh, OK. Thanks again, anyway...

By the way, I've incorporated all of the stuff in this thread to a new project which I've pasted below. Your original download excludes some of the nice stuff that...
  21. Re: [VB6] Register any control as a drop target that shows the Explorer drag image

Thanks. The text drag/drop is working just fine, although I had no (apparent) need for the bAbort variable that was posted in your above code. Anything I need to know about that, please? i.e. what...
  22. Re: [VB6] Register any control as a drop target that shows the Explorer drag image

Ok, that's fair enough, then. Been playing around a bit more with this and it's not obvious to me how to handle DataObjects of types vbCFDIB and vbCFText. Have searched MSDN but remain...
  23. Re: [VB6] Register any control as a drop target that shows the Explorer drag image

OK, i had already corrected it in my code to what you posted above but, alas, it doesn't work on XP SP3 :(
  24. Re: [VB6] Register any control as a drop target that shows the Explorer drag image

    Hi faf,

Don't know how you got this to work:

    For i = 0 To UBound(iTmp2)
    tDD.szInsert(i) = iTmp2(i - 4)
    Next i
  25. Re: Forms moving to another form by themselves

    Mine don't! :(

  26. Re: Forms moving to another form by themselves

If it's reproducible in the IDE, just put a break-point in the form's unload event and see how it got to that point...

    Re: mouseover pie sections?

Common sense might tell you that but code re-usability has nothing to do with common sense.

As LaVolpe has already said, since the OP is drawing the pie slices, he knows their co-ordinates and...
  28. Re: [RESOLVED] Long equivalent of vbNullString?

As good a reason as any ;)
  29. Re: [RESOLVED] Long equivalent of vbNullString?

Hey dil, is this an attempt to do-away with the guess-work in the code below, where the buffer is, as you put it, generously sized in advance?

If so, what advantages does the new approach have...

    Re: mouseover pie sections?

Well, that's going to have odd side-effects if any of the colours in the Select Case appears anywhere in the Picture that are outside of the pie chart! Not an approach I'd take...
  31. Re: [RESOLVED] Again Please tell me how to tell vb6 this?

Aren't you missing a GROUP BY in there? Did I miss something or just learn something new?
  32. Re: [RESOLVED] Again Please tell me how to tell vb6 this?

Lose the comma and put the GROUP BY within the double quotes.

"SELECT TEST FROM GradesTable where PID = '" & Text2.Text & "' GROUP BY TEST"

you don't need LIKE either, in this case. = will do.
  33. Re: Again Please tell me how to tell vb6 this?

That was my original thought but I wasn't sure how it translated to the OP's DBMS so I went with something more universal. There are a few ways to skin this particular cat!
  34. Re: Again Please tell me how to tell vb6 this?

Of course, you should prevent 'bad' data from getting into your tables in the first place rather than fire-fighting afterwards but sometimes it's unavoidable..
  35. Re: Again Please tell me how to tell vb6 this?

Well, one easy way is to execute this query

SELECT PID FROM Table GROUP BY PID
    or
    SELECT DISTINCT PID FROM table

then count the rows returned. 1 is good. More than 1 not so good.

Re: I can't filter this query

Create a unique (composite) index on the columns that cannot be duplicated and the database will raise an error when you violate that constraint. Handle the error as you see fit. You should be able...

  40. Re: Problem adding sub-node to a sub-node on treeview

Actually, my code wasn't posted in order to fix your problem; I was simply pointing out that your function was overly-verbose! The fact is, that adopting that new code has most likely just shifted...
