  1. Re: Activation Key to only work on 1 computer

Like I said there are samples out there, I've saw many of them, several threads here at VB Forums related to this as well.
  2. Re: [RESOLVED] Update Field Daily Routine forgot how

Using the date +1 does not sound like the right approach to me here. If I am understanding correctly what you want is today's date. If that be the case then using date +1 can lead to corrupted data...
  3. Re: Activation Key to only work on 1 computer

Well userID would not be unique, I have multiple PCs and all have the same UserID for ease of use.

There are other things you can use some better than others. You can use the volume serial number...
  4. Re: [HELP[ Going on 4 hours and no luck thus far.

Well if you do not have those then that would indicate that you either did a custom install and told it not to install them in which case you just need to update the install to include them or else...

    Re: VB6 and SQL

It looks like your data source is wrong in your connection string. Should be the server name and (path or instance name of the sql server) the latter depending on how you setup your sql express by...

Re: 862nd Form and "Out of memory" Error

I'd like to know why you have 861 forms in a single project in the first place? That sounds like about 3 times more than you should ever have and I am surprised you did not see the error sooner.

Re: What if there was a NEW vb6

That OS % is a bit misleading. The percentage in use on actual computers is much higher than that, the iOS and Android come more into play in the phone market where Windows is not doing much anymore,...
  9. Re: Automatic handling of Windows Security Warning about cookies in WebBrowser contro

Did you look at post #9 in that thread? I assume that is the one stum was talking about since that was a post he wrote.
  10. Re: Code for shutting down using winsock in vb6

No need to start a new thread, you already have one open on this subject.

Winsock will not do this. You must have code in the client to do so and that code could be triggered by a message of your...

    Re: Algorithm to merge files

I still don't know what you are really trying to do. I am assuming that your file has a lot more than just 2 records in it but all your examples are only dealing with two records, can't tell how to...

Re: Looping while Form is active

You could use the tag or some other property of the form but does it really matter? Either way you are using a switch.
Why do you need it to stay in the loop while the other form is shown and you...

    Re: Algorithm to merge files

So what would need to happen after you merge the two, would it continue to compare the original for all the lines in the file? Would it add to that new number? Can you have 8,9 and 0 digits in the...
  14. Re: VB6 Program Server that can chat, shutdown, logoff, restart a client connected to

You have been shown already. What you need to do is send a message to the client and then have the code on the client execute the shutdown when that message arrives. You can not shut down the client...
  15. Re: Automatic handling of Windows Security Warning about cookies in WebBrowser contro

What he showed was an API call not a shell.

    Re: About electronics...

Well that would depend on the USB interface being used. If it has a driver that allows VB to do this then yes.
You should check the documentation and/or website for your device

Re: read file lineby line from line 457Th

Yes a simple counter makes sense here, the amount saved if you could just jump to the location you want would be unnoticeable and you would end up spending a good bit of time coding and testing to...
  18. Re: Novice needs help with code to create loop for printout

It doesn't look like .Net code. The button click event would have arguments if .Net code and .Net does not use the Set keyword. Appears to be Word VBA.

Rather than adding "Print_1", "Print_2" and...

Re: What if there was a NEW vb6

Unlikely to happen, When VB6 was current it cost more than Office or Windows. It would be very likely that they would revamp it and sell it at $500 a copy, much more unlikely that they would give it...
  20. Re: progressbar with no timer possble?

Well there has to be a reason that you want to display the text and there needs to be a trigger to display the text.
Your initial post indicated that you were searching for something and waiting...
  21. Re: progressbar with no timer possble?

You do realize that you just said that you want to use timing but not a timer? That is not logical nor is using a timer to display the text that you showed nor even the way you were using the...
  22. Re: progressbar with no timer possble?

And that is about as clear as mud. Tell us what you are actually trying to do and try to be detailed in your description only then can we give you good advice on the matter.
  23. Re: progressbar with no timer possble?

well assuming your program is doing something while this text is displayed it may be doable but you really haven't given us anything to go on here.

Obviously to set the caption you simply need a...
  24. Re: progressbar with no timer possble?

What are you searching? What does the search code look like? Most likely you do not need a timer at all and in the case of a search a Progress Bar makes no sense as there is no way to know how long...
  25. Re: Using App.Path - Error 53 File Not Found

The reason you got the extra.txt and the reason you did not see it is because the hide file extensions was turned on. This is nothing unique to Windows 7. The same thing happens in XP.

    Re: Help with userforms/veriables

Sounds like you are working with VBA rather than VB

You should have a look at documentation, specifically private variables, public variables and variable scopes
  27. Re: Using App.Path - Error 53 File Not Found

well file not found is pretty clear. the file text.txt does not exist in the app.path

you can check for the existence of a file using Dir$()
  28. Re: App stops after showing YouTube video link

I tried it here on this system, The app does not stop responding.

Re: String Out Of Space ???

It has to be related to how you are doing it, or perhaps other strings in your program. Creating a string over 2.1 mb is not a problem. I tried creating a 200mb string and no problem
  30. Re: Dont know what to do.. Cant get this to work

I would suspect this line as it looks totally out of place there

    should that be adodc1 ?

Re: Help with ByVal as Token

I somehow missed the 3rd party reference so yes it probably is not in the project code, may be able to see it in the object browser or buy dimming some as token like suggested above.

Re: Help with ByVal as Token

Well what is Token? That is not a VB data type so I assume it must be a UDT or a Class you are passing a literal number and apparently it is not compatible with whatever Token is hence the mismatch....

No you did not, you have this line of code

frmMain.txtRunner.Text = frmMain.txtRunner.Text + vbCrLf + pr + var1value Which I assume is what you are referring to when you say it prints something.
