  1. Re: [RESOLVED] How to insert a more thatn 8000chars in an nvarchar(max).

OK, I'm not sure exactly what you're seeing or where but you may be experiencing the mechanism SQLServer uses to actually store the data. Anything up to 8000 characters (I think 4000 for an...
  2. Re: How to insert a more thatn 8000chars in an nvarchar(max).

As I understand it a varchar(max) will take MUCH more than 4000 or 8000 characters. According to Gail Shaw (who's pretty well respected) it'll actually take some 2 billion so I don't think that's...

Re: What if there was a NEW vb6

Racoons are famous for swiping stuff. Don't come over all innocent now.:D

I know what you mean about touch screen, though, and I said in another thread that I think it's being marketed beyond...

Re: What if there was a NEW vb6

You might be right. If so the only thing stopping us using our phones as desktops is the docking technology.

  6. Re: How to place my site on Top of Googlle?

What you should do is write a bot that makes garbage posts onto random forums containing a link to your site. It helps the posts are in chinese and/or suggest that the link contains pronagraphic...

Re: Visual Basic Man In The Middle

That would be an extremely suspicious activity to engage in and a blanket assertion that you're not doing anything illegal reall isn't enough to allay my suspicions. I'm closing this thread and...

Yeah, I've done that, too. And I've seen other folks say the same as well. But the way I see it, we're probably going to have a wade through a few lost causes if we're going to find the causes...

True, that would be a positively aspecting undocumented feature.

    Re: Farewell?

TG, I don't see you getting exasperated that often. And on the rare occasions where I get exasperated it's usually you who's able to step in and chill me out again. We all get exasperated once in a...
  12. Re: [RESOLVED] Web Scraping to allow redirect?

Fair enough. There are some legitimate reasons to scrape but we tend to treat such questions with a healthy dose of cynicism because 9 times out of 10 someone's trying to do something they...
  13. Re: Web Scraping to allow redirect?

It does indeed, which rather begs the question of why you thought it was a good example to give.

Scraping is against the Ts and Cs of the vast majority of sites out there and, as such, is a topic...
  14. VS 2013 Re: [RESOLVED] MVC5 Code-First Database Schema

Well that didn't take long:rolleyes: I know what you mean, though, as I found it frustrating at first. It does get easier so it's worth sticking with it.

You don't need to set a string to be...

Re: stored procedure and lan connection

Instead of passing back an output parameter to indicate success or failure, you may want to look into SQLServer's Error Handling functionality. It supports try catch blocks and allows you to throw...

  17. Re: [RESOLVED] RIGHT JOIN but return a record even if none meets criteria

As a general rule you should avoid using scalar functions (including isnull) in a join or where clause if you possibly can as they're non-sargable so won't use available indexes. From a performance...

    Moved to .Net section.

I'm a bit concerned about what you're doing here. This is from YouTube's Ts and Cs:-
you agree not to access Content through any technology or means other than the video...
  20. Re: RIGHT JOIN but return a record even if none meets criteria

I think you probably want to move the scholarship id check into the join rather than have it as a where clause.

I'd also agree with TG to change it to a left join. It's really just a personal...

  22. Re: Simulating mouse without physical device

Re: We knew it: Microsoft hates its customers
