Re: What if there was a NEW vb6

    But hardly in the minority.

Something that's struck me since buying a laptop with touchscreen: touch screen is crap for browsing the net. That came as a real surprise to me but I can't deny it. ...

Re: What if there was a NEW vb6

I would certainly agree with that. I've often seen people approach the debate from the "this tech is great to develop in so that's where the industry will head". This seems like a crazy argument to...

Re: What if there was a NEW vb6

    Yep, that's my experience too.

Yeah, but you were being more accurate than me:rolleyes:. For the purposes of clarity, when I said a traditional desktop I really meant "a machine sat on a desktop,...

Re: What if there was a NEW vb6

Sure they do. And then they all go back to their desks and fire up a traditional desktop. Walk around any office and it looks just like it did 5 years ago. Windows is far from "on life support".

    VS 2012 Re: unit test

There are a variety of tools you can use to do unit testing so I'm assuming you just want to use the one that comes with Visual Studio. It's not the best out there but it's almost certainly good...

  13. VS 2013 Re: Method for conversion, can it be improved?

Are you in a position to change the way those values are stored in the DB. If so a more usual way of handling situations where more than one flag can be true is to use bitwise operations.

    So SI =...

Re: What if there was a NEW vb6

Isn't that the point though? VB6 did enable non-programmers to produce functional apps and I think that's a good thing. Us "trained professionals" can sit in our ivory towers and pour scorn if we...
  21. Re: Our workplace rules for smokers. Does your office have similar? Are they extreme?

  22. Re: Tips For Visual Basic/Programming Student

VS 2013 Re: Need Help With If Statement Nesting

  28. Re: Tips For Visual Basic/Programming Student

  34. Re: Create a p2p application that attracts developers, employers, interacts with VBFo

I've moved it to the feedback section. In ChitChat it would probably get deluged with off topic silliness.

  35. Re: Our workplace rules for smokers. Does your office have similar? Are they extreme?

Those rules do sound extreme. Where do you live?

In the UK you can't smoke in an enclosed area of the work place but that's about it as far as laws go. An employer has the right to restrict the...
