  1. VS 2013 Re: Can't start where I want to (or at all)

    I love this person!

To "fix" your project now that it's trying (and failing) to navigate to the view directly, right click the project and choose "Properties", click the "Web" tab and choose...
  2. VS 2013 [RESOLVED] Can't start where I want to (or at all)

I am trying to run an MVC project. This isn't my project; I haven't been at all involved in the development, only the testing. We have an offshore development team on it and one local programmer. ...
  3. Re: [Excel] Need to read Excel file and generate SQL Insert statements

To post the rest of the solution, here is my code that inserts from the array I built. The id in the table is not auto-increment, so I do that here.

    Sub RunDbInserts()

    Dim iId As...
  4. Re: [Excel] Need to read Excel file and generate SQL Insert statements

You are absolutely right. It was designed all along to just iterate through the final array. If it takes an hour to execute no one will care. It'll be me using it, not a real user.

    Thanks.
  5. Re: [Excel] Need to read Excel file and generate SQL Insert statements

My Excel file has 1280 rows. I am processing row #'s 6 - 909. The file has columns going out to DJ. Fabric and season are paired up, so for example columns AS and AT are Canvas, AS being S/S Canvas...
  6. Re: [Excel] Need to read Excel file and generate SQL Insert statements

I meant to title the post "...and generate SQL Server Insert statements". Sorry about that.

I also don't believe I was clear explaining what my Excel file means. I have a whole "section" called...
  7. [RESOLVED] [Excel] Need to read Excel file and generate SQL Insert statements

It's been *years* since I've worked with VBA. So I have some basic questions. I got as far as creating an empty module. How do I define the entry point to my program? In other words, if I write...
  8. Re: Got an email someone posted to my thread, but I don't see the post

    OK, interesting, thanks.
  9. Re: Got an email someone posted to my thread, but I don't see the post

OK, no big deal really, just that it's the first time this has happened to me. I'll stop taking it so personally :).
  10. Re: Got an email someone posted to my thread, but I don't see the post

That's what I was thinking - but posts aren't usually deleted unless they're offensive? So now I'm offended, and I'm not sure what about!
  11. Got an email someone posted to my thread, but I don't see the post

I had this thread going on here, and it was resolved so I have my answer, but I received an email that someone posted to it.

    Hello MMock,

VirginiaEve93 has just replied to a thread you have...
  12. Re: [RESOLVED] sql server - what is the equivalent select query to this update?

Found out the users were scanning fed ex tracking numbers and I was scanning carton numbers. Either number can be passed to the stored procedure but the author called it @carton_number instead of a...
  13. Re: sql server - what is the equivalent select query to this update?

Sometimes I need to be hit over the head with things.

Thanks to you and NeedSomeAnswers for the discussion. There is still some issue where users are running this app and the UPDATE statement...
  14. Re: sql server - what is the equivalent select query to this update?

Oh, of course, duplicated rows - that's what I was missing! The update doesn't update a row more than once, but of course your select can select it more than once - thank you!!!

    Now I still have...
  15. Re: sql server - what is the equivalent select query to this update?

tg - If I could just see the rows that the UPDATE query is updating, without actually updating - like with the begin-tran/rollback, but not just see a count of the rows but actually see the rows. ...
  16. Re: sql server - what is the equivalent select query to this update?

Maybe I should explain these tables a bit? carton_header is a table that contains a carton number, and inside a carton we have apparel items, so one carton can contain a lot of items. They are...
  17. Re: sql server - what is the equivalent select query to this update?

Sorry, still cross posting, hope this isn't confusing to the reader.

    Item_Detail contains 1663 rows total.
  18. Re: sql server - what is the equivalent select query to this update?

    So I rewrote to this:

    begin tran
    UPDATE [tempsamplepull].[dbo].[Item_Detail]
    SET bFlaggedToPull =1
    FROM [tempsamplepull].[dbo].[Item_Detail]
JOIN carton_detail cd ON classstyle =...
  19. Re: sql server - what is the equivalent select query to this update?

tg - your post came in while I was replying to the other. Let me see...
  20. Re: sql server - what is the equivalent select query to this update?

I know it's something like that, but I don't have it quite yet. In the query you wrote for me, classstyle and color_id are columns in Item_Detail so your SELECT needs a join to that table. If I...
  21. [RESOLVED] sql server - what is the equivalent select query to this update?

I am not updating a row in a table that I should be, so I'm trying to see what's wrong. I have an update statement that joins from other tables:

    begin tran
    UPDATE [Item_Detail]
    SET...
  22. Our database structure is changing - how to find impacted SSRS reports

This is a question about how to find all reports that are referencing a column in our database. Said column is currently called label_description and is being split into several new columns. My...
  23. Re: List.Exists vs BindingList.Contains

I was kind of working in a vacuum after I posted because I'm in the northeast of the US and we had a blizzard. So I was working locally on my l laptop and wasn't 100% connected to the Internet. So...
  24. Re: [RESOLVED] KIND OF URGENT- sql server update across servers in a stored procedur

While I was posting this my boss kept working on it, and he had to configure both servers not just the source, so we are all set now. Thanks!
  25. [RESOLVED] KIND OF URGENT- sql server update across servers in a stored procedure

I put a new update command in a stored procedure that is updating a table in a different server and it is not working. The servers are linked and I can run the UPDATE command in SSMS, but when I run...
  26. [RESOLVED] List.Exists vs BindingList.Contains

The short history behind my current problem is that I had a datagridview which was bound to a List<T> and the user wanted to be able to sort on its columns. Since a dgv can't sort List<T>, I...
  27. Re: [RESOLVED] QR Code generated incorrectly for text containing hyphen

That might be a good idea, as I was thinking an error message from them would have been better than getting output that was wrong and not knowing about it until people here did a lot of work that now...
  28. Re: [RESOLVED] QR Code generated incorrectly for text containing hyphen

What is not so "obvious" is how input of REP02-9 produces output of R0002-9 when alphanumeric was chosen. Because trust me, I did not input the string R0002-9.

Again, thanks so much for the...
  29. Re: QR Code generated incorrectly for text containing hyphen

    Alphanumeric:

    122973

    Byte:

    122975

The one generated with byte encoding works. Thanks. I just have to tell the user I have good news and bad news.
  30. Re: QR Code generated incorrectly for text containing hyphen

I got great advice from you, too (as always) so don't think he stole your thunder!

I don't think I am using the same code as Schmidt at all... That's why I was asking if in my case, I could just...
  31. Re: QR Code generated incorrectly for text containing hyphen

Thanks, I may have to spend the rest of today solely on something else so I'll let you know how it goes when I have a chance to try it.
  32. Re: QR Code generated incorrectly for text containing hyphen

Wow - that is awesome. We are scanning your QR and it is correct!

So when you say code as 8-bit data, perhaps that is the Byte option vs the AlphaNumeric option we've been using?

    ...
  33. Re: QR Code generated incorrectly for text containing hyphen

No special printer. The user was given the file on a network share so he printed on some printer of his. I printed on ours - it is our everyday printer used by everyone, that worked for every QR up...
  34. Re: QR Code generated incorrectly for text containing hyphen

That returned 45 (it is ASCII).
  35. Re: QR Code generated incorrectly for text containing hyphen

So if I just update the row, even though it would look like I'm updating it to the same thing it is, that might overwrite it with better data?
  36. Re: QR Code generated incorrectly for text containing hyphen

    Not nvarchar, but

    CREATE TABLE ...
    [description] [varchar](256) NOT NULL,
  37. Re: QR Code generated incorrectly for text containing hyphen

Interesting thought. I created the INSERT statements in Excel because we were given a range of new locations. To save typing, I typed just "Repo1-" in an Excel cell and replicated it down the...
  38. Re: QR Code generated incorrectly for text containing hyphen

It can be made several ways? It's read from the database. How it got into the db is the user said he needed this list of particular new locations and I created sql insert statements for them.
    ...
  39. Re: QR Code generated incorrectly for text containing hyphen

Yes, without a dash it read it exact (W2D01). He was going to try one with a space; I'll go ask him again to do that.
  40. [RESOLVED] QR Code generated incorrectly for text containing hyphen

I'm not sure C# is the correct forum for this question, but it's a C# program I'm using so I'll start here. I inherited a program that generates label print-outs as QR codes so they can be scanned. ...
