dilettante is not the only one I've seen discussing this.
I've been doing this a long time. Started back with mainframes when they didn't even have collators and you had to read the holes on the...
Thanks all for input. Was busy most of the day so just got a chance to read -- haven't digested all yet -- but will do my best to respond.
First to clarify a few things.
1) All hardware has...
Thanks for all the input.
Re: Hardware. (most everything has been upgraded to new)
My experience has told me "If it ain't broke don't fix it". I have been upgrading MOBO for years with older...

I don't know where you get the time to keep up with M$.
I'm busy writing code and trying to accomplish a task NOT trying to keep up with M$ latest and greatest.
And yes, that puts...
Stumbled across this on M$ web site and thought it may be of interest to someone.
What I find most interesting is the Windows\System32 is reserved for 64 bit -- go figure
passel: Thanks for response.
Thinking of upgrading VB5/6 to use 64 bit.
I assume there are 64 bit API's?
1) Will I need to update all my API calls to 64 bit?
2) If so, is the change for "MOST" APIs as simple...
Based on our discussion, I decided to revisit this issue to see if their might be a better way than a string.
On the same machine converting a time double using CDate and TimeSerial...
Thanks you beat me to an example.
I disagree with this. I have a program which receives a realtime datafeed that use to update a table with a DateTime Primary Key.
Don't want to hijack this thread or go way over the OP heads, but your suggestion of:
won't solve the problem as the precsion issue is less than 1 second.
And Yes, it can have a...
This is a simple compare problem where you need to compare the datetime to be entered against that which is already in the database. Check out "Seek".
That said, comparing Date/Times for database...
Guess we will have to disagree as worked in my situation which was:
1) Have an editable textbox for Add / Edit / Delete
2) Have an Uneditable textbox for all other cases BUT...
Think I found my answer.
FWIW_ Sometime the problem is NOT what you think it is.

Prior to Window7 you could set system colors (OLE colors) by object.
Haven't located system colors by object yet in Windows 7.

I've noticed that the darkness (regular not bold) of my Fonts varies by Control.
They are all using the same Font (Tahoma) size (9) and control background and foreground colors are the same.
Thanks for responses:

Thanks for your input.
Will leave this thread up for a bit to see if we get any disagreement.
I was wondering whether a browser downloads the entire HTML file and then reads it --- or ---
whether the file as it is downloading is being read and constructing the web page?
techgnome and Wolfgang:
Got it resolved.
Wolfgang had tried TreeView's Style property to 6 (tvwTreelinesPlusMinusText) along with LineStyle: tvwRootLines.
After rebooting from overnight and...
Not using any images just Text.
Maybe (??) because of multiple roots
Will research and if answer post this thread.
Thanks again for the assist.
That got everything working except for the +/- showing on the Nodes.
Once I assign something to the Node Tag, how do I read it?
Another issue is how do I get the + or - to show
In playing with the Treeview I found that just a number, even though a string is NOT acceptable as a KEY.
For example the string "1234" can be converted to a number and hence cannot be...
Just researched the "Tag" property. Based on your post, thought I missed a "Tag" property associated with EACH node.
However, appears "Tag" just applies to th Treeview at large...
Mud on my face -- what can I say but >> THANK YOU.

terry002: Thanks for responding.
I display various (different) textboxes based on different options buttons.

Thanks for clearing that up for me, maybe others.
One issue -- I don't have the answer to -- is in what order the collection is returning items if this is of concern.
For example with For/Next and .Count you will get the item back in the order in...
Finally got MSMQ working and your examples work -- have NOT yet looked at the code in depth.
Your comment "normal way via Control Panel" was the big help.
In initially reading MSDN...
Got your examples unzipped but could never get them to run.
Whether its because I'm using VB5 instead VB6 is the big question right now.
Normally I have No problem with VB6 Apps...
Just quick post to acknowledge feedback prior to looking at dilettante example.
That explanation really helps explain possible alternatives and problems.
While not going across...
No its real time. My Sender Program is effectively a Receiver / Sender. It is linked to an external Server through an API.
No DDE is involved.
dilettante: Always appreciate your input.
"High Volume" is relative, but yes it is real time data.
Currently I have a textbox set up in the Sender and a textbox set up in the Receiver.
Thanks for further input.
If you're referring to this line of code:
RichTextBox1.RightMargin = (r.Right - r.Left + 1000)
