    Re: [RESOLVED] Object casting question

    A more fleshed out example:

    Public Interface test
    Function GetName() As String
    End Interface

    Public Class A
    Implements test

    Public Function DoSomething()

    Re: [RESOLVED] Object casting question

Well, there's nothing that says you can't use both inheritance and interfacing. Interfacing just defines an access point (or points) to a class. The practical difference as I see it with...

    Re: [RESOLVED] Object casting question

If the situation is one where you have all the same functions in each child class and are simply overriding the implementation of each one, then it might be better to look at using an Interface...

VS 2010 Re: How to Insert Label inside Textbox in vb

You can't put a label control inside a textbox control - textboxes are not container controls. Now you could probably fake it by putting a panel on the form, putting a label and textbox inside the...

Possible corruption to the .net framework on those computers.

Possible corruption to some dll in windows.

Maybe some hardware issue on those computers.

VS 2005 Re: How to create a tooltip in code.

OK. It turns out we were all wrong, and it's partially my fault for not paying close enough attention to the code I was working with.

I tested the example code from MS and indeed it does work as...

VS 2005 Re: How to create a tooltip in code.

I just don't want to hassle with having to refactor the code - the code that creates the controls and adds them to whatever their container is - is several layers of functions removed from the form.

VS 2005 Re: How to create a tooltip in code.

I was hoping that the SetToolTip method created a reference between the control and the tooltip object that would remain once the variable went out of scope. Bummer. I'm gonna have to refactor this...

VS 2005 [RESOLVED] How to create a tooltip in code.

VS 2010 Re: Removing '' from CSV values as input

The 'Trim' function has an overload that allows you to specify the characters you want trimmed. So if you wanted to trim item 'NIC' then you would say something like:

    item(1).Trim("'"c)

Here's what I finally came up with. Fairly simple, and it works.

    function (dom, request, domForm)...
  18. Re: How to keep form submittal from navigating away from page

My understanding is that jQuery's unobtrusive-ajax script has to be loaded into the page for the code that's generated by the Ajax.BeginForm function to operate. Am I wrong on that?
  19. Re: How to keep form submittal from navigating away from page

I got snookered on Ajax.BeginForm since it's tied to the jQuery toolkit - I'm confined to using the dojo toolkit. I've found some example dojo code to perform the partial postback when the submit...
  20. Re: How to keep form submittal from navigating away from page

My apologies - I failed to indicate in the first post that this is an mvc app. Maybe that will help clear things up?

VS 2012 Re: Adding values in two textbox

One problem I see is that your event handler is handling the TextChanged event for a control named txtddone - not TextBox1. So when you change the value in TextBox1, this code isn't being called.

  35. VS 2013 Re: Getting ListView Images to a PictureBox

  36. VS 2013 Re: Getting ListView Images to a PictureBox

Arrays are zero based, so SubItems(1) would actually be accessing the 2nd subitem in the ListviewItem.
  37. VS 2013 Re: Getting ListView Images to a PictureBox

It seems to me that you may not need ImageList at all. You already have the ListViewItem that the user selected - simply get the image that you need from the ListviewItem.

  40. VS 2013 Re: Getting ListView Images to a PictureBox

What that error is telling you is that you're trying to access an element in an array that doesn't exist. I can't say for sure where it's happening, but I'm guessing it's occurring at this line:
