Where are the oldbies? This thread is epic!
  4. Re: It’s the first hands-on review of the Apple Tablet!

You are the one that needs to do some marketing research because you are so wrong. And if you had actually paid attention to anything I have written about consumer wants and needs, you might actually...
  5. Re: It’s the first hands-on review of the Apple Tablet!

I do not take it personally. But I think you missed the context in why I was saying that. Yes Adobe products sucks. That was the overall point I was making. My response was in context to who is at...
  6. Re: It’s the first hands-on review of the Apple Tablet!

It is both their faults. Adobe has never provided a plugin on OS X that hasn't been a serious resource hog. And the ARM version they produced was not the full version until very recently (Flash 10...
  7. Re: It’s the first hands-on review of the Apple Tablet!

I do have to say I think Adobe's response to no Flash on the iPad is laughable. They are throwing words out like proprietary. How about Adobe opens up the Flash specification and then maybe Apple...
  8. Re: It’s the first hands-on review of the Apple Tablet!

I hate Flash. It needs Silverlight for Netflix! And if you mean front facing camera, agreed. Video Skype could have been the killer app.
  9. Re: It’s the first hands-on review of the Apple Tablet!

Nope. Learn what vaporware means. Seeing the potential of a device and what could be done with the hardware via the software is supposed to be what a programmer does.

    techgnome. It does support...
  10. Re: It’s the first hands-on review of the Apple Tablet!

I know. But still the potential is there. Whether that potential is realized, that is a subject for the future.
  11. Re: It’s the first hands-on review of the Apple Tablet!

Fair enough. I just get very passionate about technology. :thumb: I am sorry if I took you out of context.
  12. Re: It’s the first hands-on review of the Apple Tablet!

I agree with you for the most part, but just FYI, Apple has a dock connector to USB and dock connector to SD card adaptors for the iPad. The call it the camera adaptor for hooking up your camera to...
  13. Re: It’s the first hands-on review of the Apple Tablet!

Interesting how you almost make it sound like being old enough to have a historical perspective is a bad thing and that empirical evidence is silly despite being a valid hypothetical model. But that...
  14. Re: It’s the first hands-on review of the Apple Tablet!

Geeks were dissapointed in the iPod, the iPhone, the GUI, and the mouse too. I have actual history to back up my points.
  15. Re: It’s the first hands-on review of the Apple Tablet!

Instead of answering all your points, I will just address this last paragraph as it sums up exactly the problem you have understanding how this is a consumer device. I don't mean for that sound as...
  16. Re: It’s the first hands-on review of the Apple Tablet!

The new SDK has opened APIs for accessing a shared storage area so it just might.
  17. Re: It’s the first hands-on review of the Apple Tablet!

    Fair enough. :thumb:
  18. Re: It’s the first hands-on review of the Apple Tablet!

As a computer, I agree. But looking at this as a consumer appliance, this is actually a fairly nice little device. This is the stuff Bill Gates was talking about years ago. As far as multi tasking, I...
  19. Re: It’s the first hands-on review of the Apple Tablet!

It will service the techie tablet market. But just sticking Windows 7 on a tablet will not do anything for the consumer market which is where Apples focus is here.
  20. Re: It’s the first hands-on review of the Apple Tablet!

Not too bad, but still can't compete with Netbook prices. I reserve judgement of whether this is a viable tool until the next mobile OS release which will probably not be shown until Apple's...

Re: So, who got a Nexus One?

Steve Jobs asked me to kick you all in the balls.

I am waiting for the next iPhone and WM7 before I make a choice on my next phone. Maybe there will be a Nexus Two by then to add to my choices....

    Re: iPhone and iPod touch

6.5 is the Windows ME of Windows Mobile.

But I have more faith in Microsoft ever since Windows 7. So maybe 7th time is the charm for them.

    Re: iPhone and iPod touch

I have mellowed out in my old age.

And if anyone is even considering an iPhone, you might as well hold off for now. There will likely be a new one in 6 or 7 months, plus you will have the Google...
  25. Re: Are You Falling Behind? The Multicore, Concurrency Question...

I am failling behind in the knowledge. I currently do not do any development that really requires any concurrency so I haven't paid alot of attention to it. I remember being excited about threading...

The way these reports usually seem to work is that a group is paid to analyze a specific area by the company that knows it will come out on top in that area. It isn't bias as much as it is they are...
  31. Re: New SKUs and a Release Date for Visual Studio 2010

LINQ isn't loosely typed. And as I said above dynamic is useful for invoking of dynamic language methods. It will simplify Reflection for those languages and COM Interop. dynamic tells the compiler...
  32. Re: New SKUs and a Release Date for Visual Studio 2010

Never had the call to try it. A friend of mine loves it, but he is one those dynamic language lovers who would sing it's praises no matter what. :ehh:

I do kinda like the python syntax though.
  33. Re: New SKUs and a Release Date for Visual Studio 2010

    Ok. Epic faceplam!
  34. Re: New SKUs and a Release Date for Visual Studio 2010

Are we talking 2 different vars here? I am referring to var in C# where var is implicitly inferred to it's strong type. Whereas VB 6's var is what it sounds you are referring to.
  35. Re: New SKUs and a Release Date for Visual Studio 2010

    Apparently.

  38. Re: New SKUs and a Release Date for Visual Studio 2010

Not really. var infers a Strong Type. dynamic maintains itself as a dynamic type and is more useful for invoking functions from dynamic languages such as JavaScript or IronPython

    Re: XBAP VS Silverlight

If I needed to write something that requires the full .NET framework to run on a client, and be loaded easily from a website I would write a full blown client application and use ClickOnce deployment.
