    this should speed it up slightly. I convert file bytes to a string once (per file I'd guess) instead of reading the file and converting it to a string for every keyvaluepair in the dictionary.

    actually, I see what you mean now. that's a custom control only used in association with the PropertyGrid control.

    You can use vb to test your equations, and compare them against manually calculated results.
    You need to work these out on your own as it's an assignment.
