I can confirm the template exists and I am able to create a new document by clicking on the template. Is it possible that it is a network issue? Maybe communication is taking too long and Word opens...

I figured this one out, it wasn't VBA related. A cell had conflicting hyperlinks... I fixed the hyperlink and the problem was solved.
