  1. VS 2010 Re: HttpModule PostAuthenticateRequest sender.User is null.

    Ok, so what it turned out to be was that subsequent calls to a pdf document do not get an authenticaterequest event raised. That was the problem. How can I force IIS or my application to always...
  2. VS 2010 Re: HttpModule PostAuthenticateRequest sender.User is null.

    Ok so I compiled my httpmodule and it's dependencies against the 2.0 framework and set the app pool of the application to the classic. Then under classic app pool, enabled 32-bit apps. I also had...
  3. VS 2010 Re: HttpModule PostAuthenticateRequest sender.User is null.

    Also, I tried to set the application to use the classical app pool, but the application kept giving me a file or assembly not found error for 'Conversion' at the line in the web.config that I added...
  4. VS 2010 HttpModule PostAuthenticateRequest sender.User is null.

    Ok so I have my httpmodule set up like so:

    Public Class UserLogModule
    Implements IHttpModule

    Private WithEvents httpapp As HttpApplication

    Public Sub Dispose() Implements...
  5. VS 2010 Re: ASP.NET application local directory security question.

    I'm already logging file access in an httpmodule on the AuthenticateRequest event I believe. I'm storing the directory that the user has access to (hashed casenumber) I guess I could just get the...
  6. VS 2010 [RESOLVED] ASP.NET application local directory security question.

    So I have an internet application that multiple users can access (anonymous).
    I also have an intranet application that only certain domain groups/users have access to.

    I'm using the membership...
  7. Re: Listbox control not preserving selected item on button click.

    I"ll test the cases listbox with a custom class with the same property names as the db fields I'm binding to. I'll see if that has a different outcome than binding a datatable.

    I'm positive I...
  8. Re: Listbox control not preserving selected item on button click.

    Hmmm so it seems that if you bind the DataTextField and the DataValueField that the control will not maintain the selected state. That value does make it easier than have to query again based on the...
  9. Listbox control not preserving selected item on button click.

    Ok so I have two listboxes on my page one for users and another for cases. For some reason the users listbox preserves state, but the cases listbox doesn't.

    They're both set EnableViewState= true...

    Re: Optimizing custom control question.

    But instead of just calling CustomTreeView.RefreshNodes(), I'm going to try and only call that the first load and make my adds/inserts move around the UI elements as well to avoid having to draw ALL...

    Re: Optimizing custom control question.

    Oh yeah, I'm sorry. The control is being fed the results of the query in the form of customtreeviewnodes. The querying and creation/adding of the nodes is being done in the QueueView Form parent of...

    Re: Optimizing custom control question.

    I think what I need to do is figure out a way to insert/append to the visual customtreeview through delegate subroutines so I don't inhibit the user's experience so much. And maybe make it a...

    Re: Optimizing custom control question.

    The control is used in a queuing system for a court. So if queue A sends queue B a document, the number of records for queue B in the database will change. So it will update the interface. ...

    Optimizing custom control question.

    Ok so I have a custom tree view control. It has a list of 'group' names for grouping the _datasource in root/child/.../child relationships.
    In a thread, it is looking for changes to the database...

    Re: including newline in string variable

    You may have to append ControlChars.Lf (Line feed?) as well. If nothing else, just put the contents in a body tag, in an html tag and just use simple <br />

    VS 2010 Re: Question about Threads.

    Yeah, umm I was definitely being silly. Here is the basic structure of the function that runs in another thread:

    private void threadFunc(){

    while(running)
    {
    // other stuff...

    VS 2010 Re: Question about Threads.

    I'll just let it go without joining then. I'll just keep a log for that individual process to see if any errors creep up.

    Thanks for the info.

    VS 2010 Re: Question about Threads.

    I realize that. But I also don't want to just say 'to hell with it' and potentially leave the thread running. Join() is to wait for the thread to end (make sure it terminated successfully). The...

    VS 2010 [RESOLVED] Question about Threads.

    Is there a way to asynchronously call a function on the main thread from another thread?
    Basically a 'fire and forget' so that the other thread will not hang up on the .Join()?

    The basic flow is:...

    Re: Getting Data from Excel Spreadsheet

    You can fill a DataSet. You can fill a datatable as well. You can also fill a dataset's specific datatable. There a few more overloads as well.

    VS 2010 Re: Control webbrowser openfiledialog

    I'm not sure you can do this due to security reasons. Controlling a windows form on the client's pc (without them consenting to some sort of client installation program) is suspicious behavior.

  29. VS 2010 Re: Invoking external application form's button event.

  30. VS 2010 Re: Invoking external application form's button event.

    So my handle that I get from GetChildWindows (the first one) is 1115048 in my application. But in Spy++ it's 001103A8. Because when I use FindWindowEx with (hwnd, intptr.zero, "Button", "Close") I...

  32. VS 2010 Re: Invoking external application form's button event.

    OK so evidently the most parent window has to be the active form. Let me try that first.

  39. VS 2008 Re: Databindings for label on a winform usercontrol

    If all your binding is data members from one database row, then just bind the controls you need to be bound:

    Private _data as DataRow

    Public Sub New(ID as integer)
    InitializeComponent()
