Alright, what is it about VB that's confusing? What are you getting into?
Also, what book are you using? Is it really that bad? Try carefully re-reading the chapters/sections that leads to what...

C++ supports function pointers! (And so does VB.NET if you ever plan to get into that - but their called delegates in that case).
Function pointers sound exactly like what your asking for.
-
It seems to me like he just wants to know how to create a setup file that has the mp3 included and refer to that mp3 within the application.
Are you using the 'Package and Deployment Wizard'? If...
-
Are you talking about function pointers? That's not supposed to be possible in VB6, although I've seen strange applications of the 'AddressOf' operator before that seemed to simulate it (don't...
-
"Text", as you put it, doesn't transfer any differently than a "File". It's all the same. Can you tell me how you're transmitting and recieving the data? That would really help to clear the confusion.

Honestly, I don't know about HTTP requests in that much detail. It might help to get a packet sniffer and see what data Internet Explorer sends to the webserver.
-
I don't think you quite understand what a file actually is. Physically, the extention on the end of them (mp3, exe, txt, etc...) has nothing to do with the data contained within. This extention just...

You're already connected to hypermart.com, thats why you don't request for the server. You're supposed to request a specific file on their server, for example:
GET /index.html HTTP/1.0
GET...

Really? That happens to me too! I thought it was normal. It has nothing to do with code, just paste controls on the form, and set the form's opacity.
Hmm, I did manage to achieve something like...

Actually, if you make your application a Windows service, I don't think it would be displayed in the task manager. Not sure though, but I think I've seen this done before a while back.
I have...

Oh, I see what you mean about printing (never needed to do it myself before).
As for templates, I never really delved deep into C++ (I wanted to, but VB.NET sounded so interesting that I decided...

Look how an event is declared:
Private Sub TextBox1_Change(yadda yadda) handles TextBox1.Change
When you delete the text box, it'll keep the procedure for you, but remove the 'handles' command....

What bugs are you talking about?

www.winuae.net
It works really well, but is a bit difficult to use (tons and tons of settings).
The most common settings you'll use are under Sound (it's disabled by default for some reason),...

This must be quite a boring day for you. :D
Why don't you put your new-found talants into something everyone will enjoy - game developing?

Practice makes perfect!
Bazza81, this is actually pretty impressive if this is your first GDI+ app.

Should those structures be declared inside the class or outside?

As I said before, you could write a new procedure in your form that call's Show and accepts a parameter.
In your form's code, just put something like this:
Public Sub Show2(strInfo as String)

It depends. How many other languages do you know? Are you comfortable with the object orientated concepts?
I'm not quite sure which would be the best book (I usually just read 1, then learn...

Just a tip:
You'll learn .NET several times faster by studying it yourself then if you went to college.
I took a college C++ programming class (a 5 month course), and I sware I could have...

If you don't want to use global variables, you could write a new procedure in your form that call's Show and accepts a parameter.

WinUAE seems to be a really good Amiga emulator!
I still prefer the Amiga version of Lemmings (It's faster and I like that mini-map in the bottom of the screen).
-
Umm, that would be a 2 dimensional array!
Unless I'm wrong, here's how it is:
Dim Ary(1) As String - 1 dimensional (imagine each element as a point on a line)
Dim Ary(2,3) As String - 2...

I really like your ideas (the real ones). However, what if we were to have different forum-groups? Something like this:

If you think you're prepared for this, here's an article I stumbled across: http://www.vbwm.com/articles/builder/viewer.asp?ArticleID=16
But the easiest thing would be to use an image control...

Nobody reads the descriptions! Thats why the title needs to be changed.
I don't care if people post VB.NET questions in the old VB forum (I'd prefer VB.NET over old VB any day). I just think it...

Hmm, is this Visual C++? 6.0 or .NET?
I used to mess with C++ a little, but that was quite a while ago (and on code warrior too!). Maybe that has something to do with it.
-
If Vb6 was your first language, what made you assume C++ was any better?
C++ is obviously one of the most versatile languages, but I like how quickly you can develop really neat apps with VB...

I hate either of those places! It just tastes like I'm eating a chunk of hardened oil (especially with the fries).
Subway is probably my favorite fast food place! But if I'm going to have burgers,...

Pull down on your scrollbar!

Too many people ask VB.NET questions in this forum because nothing says it's meant only for VB5/6. The description should also mention that the .NET forum is further down.
What do you all think?
-
Go into your project properties. There should be a drop-down list box that allows you to specify the startup object. Select 'Sub Main'.
(Note: This is the VB5/6 forum. The VB.NET forum is further...

Hey!!! That Windows API guide was from vbapi.com!!! They took that site down a long time ago, but it was absolutely the best for windows API in visual basic! I've really missed it! I'm sooooooooooo...

My vote was for VB.NET! However, VB.NET and C# are quite similar since they use the same classes.
Why a .NET language? Simply because its very easy to develop powerful applications with it!

Dim abc(1 to 5) as string.
It should be noted, however, that Visual Basic is the only language (to my knowledge) that allows you to change the lower bound of an array. Therefore, it really isn't...

I never format my drive unless I've a serious problem or do a major system upgrade (its probably been 2 years for me too), and I have tons of games, utils, and development tools installed.
Perhaps...

Your on a duron 1.3 GHz with over 400 megs of ram, and VS is slow?
Hmm, I've a 1.4 p4 with 256 megs, and my shoot'em up game (which is quite large mind you) takes only about 3 seconds to compile...

It's hard to say at the moment, GDI32 is probably a little faster. I'm gonna have to run some tests.
However, GDI+ is a lot easier to use. No more worrying about DC's, handles, or memory leaks...
-
You obviously don't know the graphics routines!
You can easily make shoot'em up or platform games using GDI+!
