  1. Re: Why the execution times of these two methods differ so hugely?

I suspect that your code against the scripting dictionary is faster because the scripting dictionary is compiled (whereas your pure VBA code is interpreted, and therefore slower). You might get...

    Re: Self Delete?

I mentioned the "if not". If your software **is** actively under attack/defeated by crackers, then my advice changes.

First, consider yourself lucky! You've written software that is desirable...

    Re: Self Delete?

Speaking only to this point - a self-deleting application is likely to deter only the most undetermined of crackers.

Is your program already under attack by crackers? If not (and this is...
  4. Re: Why the execution times of these two methods differ so hugely?

I haven't tested either method yet, but did you test them both compiled, or in the IDE? If you just tested them in the IDE then I suggest testing them compiled to see what the difference is.
  5. Re: [VB6] Using the new IFileDialog interface for customizable Open/Save (TLB, Vista+

    Hi fafalone,

You're right - commenting out the FD_OnFileOK code eliminates the problem (it was happening when either double-clicking a file or when clicking the Mine File button in the customized...
  6. Re: [VB6] Using the new IFileDialog interface for customizable Open/Save (TLB, Vista+

    Hi Fafalone.

I tried unicode filenames with my use of SHCreateItemFromParsingName and it seems to handle unicode fine (as I suppose your use of ILCreateFromPathW also does, haven't tried it yet)....
  7. Re: [VB6] Using the new IFileDialog interface for customizable Open/Save (TLB, Vista+

To open the file dialog at an arbitrary path, first you need to add the following declarations and constants at the module level:

  8. Re: [VB6] Using the new IFileDialog interface for customizable Open/Save (TLB, Vista+

I've been experimenting a bit with this, and it looks very nice so far, thanks for your work on it.

    Couple of questions/things I noticed:

In your demo, after clicking the custom dialog...

"Crime" sounds a bit strong to me - not that I'm endorsing breaking a TOS, but wouldn't scraping just be a TOS violation (subject to having your account closed, IP banned, etc...)? I could even...
  10. Re: How to implement (if possible) - Shell - Drop file (copy this) callback?

I think we're getting a little bit off topic with the open/closed source debate, so it might be better to move to a different thread, but I thought I'd add my 2 cents.

I can see both of your...

Re: [RESOLVED] JAVA is faster than VB6?

Hi Jonney, I might be wrong, but I think you may be performing many loops after the value has been calculated. The reason I'm not sure is because I don't really know what your code is trying to do,...

  21. Re: How do I use CreateProcess to launch Chrome.exe with default URL

  22. Re: Plugin framework without DLL registering (DirectCOM)

Re: Persisting data in vb6 classes/objects

To extrapolate on LaVolpe's point, this might also be a good reason to use a file database format like Sqlite. You can create a table/tables to hold all your serialized values (and have a version...

Re: Persisting data in vb6 classes/objects

You can use the PropertyBag object to serialize/deserialize your object properties.
