    Re: How would you unit test this method?

    Sorry, I've been really busy lately so I didn't have a chance to post.

    I honestly started out that way, but since I've gotten more and more into python, I've moved more towards a dynamic...
  2. Re: How to use this PHP Hash+Salt script?

    If you check the github account of the guy who wrote it, he has examples:

    Re: How would you unit test this method?

    Ah yeah, it makes sense when throwing exceptions like that. I work in a web world so we typically are validating forms and returning all the errors to the user.

    When it comes to throwing...

    Re: How would you unit test this method?

    Maybe I'm misunderstanding you, but why would you do this? Assuming you're using annotations for your models, you could simply put invalid data in the model and call the validate method. You can then...

    Re: What if there was a NEW vb6

    Funky's won't open for me, but a few more lines does not make it less maintainable. We could do the opposite: have a bunch of ducks already in the system and properties set, and then modify which...
  6. Re: [JavaScript]OnChange not firing

    JavaScripts onchange event only fires when you remove focus from the textbox. You might want to look into using the onkeydown or onkeyup events.

    If you're able to use HTML5, you could also use the...

    Re: What if there was a NEW vb6

    No, I mean the implementation of the duck interface or abstract class. Whether you need it or not, if you have a property of "can fly," "nurses young," "extinct," etc., that will each have an if...

    Re: What if there was a NEW vb6

    While I'm not particularly a fan of the way Funky did it, I definitely don't like the way Schmidt wrote this.

    So instead of having properties on each object and implementing the correct interface,...

    Re: Unable to login to Active Directory.

    Port 389 is the default port to connect to LDAP and port 636 is the default secure port. So if you're accessing it external to the network, you need to make sure the appropriate firewall rules are...

    Re: process record on button click

    You'll need to do an ajax call to the webserver. Then, you can take the result and draw it to the screen.

    Are you using jQuery or JavaScript?
  11. Re: html, external javascript and external css

    What do you mean "OnChange of the Range Input Type"?

    What is a "Range Input Type"?

    You can set the class of an object in javascript by doing:

    Re: Unable to login to Active Directory.

    Do you mean this is running on a server not on the domain? If it isn't, is port 389 or 636 open for the LDAP connection?

    I've also ran into issues where using AuthenticationTypes.Secure didn't...
  13. Re: [RESOLVED] Adding Events With Dynamic HTML Control

    If you were able to solve your problem, you should post the code you used to fix it here. That way, if someone is having a similar issue, when they search they don't just find a "I got it" post...

  15. VS 2012 Re: How to handle multi user and client refresh

    Something like this would typically be achieved by long-polling.

    Something like this should work:

    function checkForChanges(){
    setTimeout(function(){
    $.ajax({
    url: "whatever",
  16. Re: Runtime Binder Exception when deserialize a dynamic type - Json

    I agree with TG; why cast it as dynamic? There is no need to with this object and it seems like it is just a cop-out method because you don't feel like doing it properly.

    Re: Display a link if admin

    You would query the database the same way you're doing now, but omit part of the WHERE clause that has user_level = '1'. Then store the user object in the users session. You can then access it from...

    Re: mysql charset and collation

    I'm not sure what your question is, but make sure your fields are NCHAR/NVARCHAR and not CHAR or VARCHAR in MySQL. NCHAR/NVARCHAR support UTF8 characters, whereas VARCHAR/CHAR only support ASCII.
  19. Re: VBForums Beautifier - A google chrome extension that will slightly modifies the l

    Not sure if you're interested, but I wrote a tool a while ago that I use regularly on VBForums that allows conversion of normal text into a code block.

    Might be handy to have in the extension...

  21. Re: how to avaoid io.***********Exception file name too long

    What happens if you print out the length of the variables before you attempt the write? Does it give you the length you're expecting?

    Nice, glad to hear you're still adding features :)

  23. Re: VBForums Beautifier - A google chrome extension that will slightly modifies the l

    It appears that the badge doesn't work when a user has a gif as their avatar. For me, it just shows a white block.

    Also, the image seems stretched, causing it to look slightly blurry.

  24. Re: how to avaoid io.***********Exception file name too long

    Can you post the full filepath and filename?
  25. Re: how to avaoid io.***********Exception file name too long

    You can avoid it by checking both the file name (ensuring it is less than 260 characters) and the filepath (ensuring it is 248 characters) before writing the file.

    VS 2013 Re: MVC for simple site?

    MS MVC bashing leads me to post again that NancyFx is a nice, lightweight framework that handles MVC very cleanly and doesn't have the bloat of MS's MVC implementation.
  28. Re: Bootstrap: how to use "Save Changes" in Modal?

    Yeah, it's all done through bootstrap 3. It just draws a modal window to the bottom of the body and removes it when the window is closed.

    Here is the dialog code:

    var ModalWindow = function...
  29. Re: Bootstrap: how to use "Save Changes" in Modal?

    A lot of this really depends on how you're drawing the dialog. Is it static on the page? If so, you could just bind to the save changes button.

    Is it dynamically drawn? Then you may need to add...
  30. Re: VBForums Beautifier - A google chrome extension that will slightly modifies the l

  31. Re: How do you all handle the backup of databases in your systems

    Re: Deserialize Json in c#

    Re: Deserialize Json in c#

    List<RootObject> obj = JsonConvert.DeserializeObject<List<RootObject>>(responseText);

    And it should fix...
